By the end, the Grinch has reformed and Martha decides to break off the engagement and gives Augustus back his engagement ring, and says that her heart belongs to The Grinch.

What happened to the Grinch after he died?
After The Grinch finally accepts Christmas, he lives out a happy life, with his heart growing two sizes, but after his death, he is transported to Halloween Town, with his past life only a distant memory.
When seated for dinner, he realizes that it was not really Christmas he despised, but being alone and his bitterness over being neglected. With this, the Grinch finally accepts the Whos' friendship and enjoys Christmas with them giving a toast.
