The Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok starred Guy Madison as the legendary Old West lawman (in real life, also a gunfighter) United States Marshal James Butler "Wild Bill" Hickok, and Andy Devine as his comedy sidekick, Jingles P.Jones.
In 1859, he joined the Russell, Majors and Waddell freight company, the parent company of the Pony Express. In 1860, Hickok was badly injured by a bear, while driving a freight team from Independence, Missouri, to Santa Fe, New Mexico.
This was the only “show” in which James Butler “Wild Bill” Hickok performed with William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody. The two remained friends until Hickok's murder in Deadwood, South Dakota, on August 2, 1876, at the age of 39.
Devine worked extensively in radio, and is well remembered for his role as Jingles, Guy Madison's sidekick in The Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok, which the two actors reprised on television.
His high-pitched gravelly voice was the result of a childhood accident. While running with a stick (some accounts say a curtain rod) in his mouth, he tripped and fell, ramming the stick through the roof of his mouth. For almost a year, he was unable to speak at all.
Robert Ellsworth Patrick Aloysius Brady (December 31, 1914 – February 27, 1972) was an American actor and musician best known as the "comical sidekick" of the popular cowboy film and television star Roy Rogers on his eponymous radio and television series.
During the Civil War, Hickok served as a scout, spy, and courier with the Union army, and after his discharge in 1866 received an appointment as deputy United States Marshall at Fort Riley, Kansas. While at Fort Riley he also served as a scout in various military expeditions against the Indians on the plains.
"Colorado Charlie" Utter (March 14, 1838 – July 3, 1915) was a figure of the American Wild West, best known as a great friend and companion of Wild Bill Hickok. He was also friends with Calamity Jane.
Cody and Hickok traveled together to ft. Ellsworth, Kansas, where Cody was hired as an Army Scout for the first time. Cody's appointment was primarily due to his friendship with Hickok.
Famous lawman, James “Wild Bill” Hickok, was shot while gambling at the Saloon #10 in Deadwood, South Dakota. His shooter, Jack McCall, who was able to get away with the shooting by claiming that Hickok had murdered his brother.
In Wild Bill's last letter to Agnes, he promised her that if “we never meet again, while firing my last shot, I will gently breathe the name of my wife — Agnes — and with wishes even for my enemies I will make the plunge and try to swim to the other shore.”
Perhaps most famously, Harper's New Monthly Magazine printed an account of the story in 1867, claiming Hickok had killed 10 men. Overall, it was reported that Hickok had killed over 100 men during his lifetime.
But his date of 1871 in Market Square, in Kansas City [Missouri], does not make sense. Hickok did not appear in KC until late December of that year. In several books devoted to Earp, various family members have been quoted as stating that Wyatt saw Hickok, but none of them suggested that they were buddies.
Richard Dreyfuss didn't really want a part in "Jaws" at first. He was convinced that his latest picture, "The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz," would be a big success, and turned Spielberg down for the role of Matt Hooper.
Despite the intense clashes between Shaw and Dreyfuss, both actors delivered outstanding performances that contributed significantly to the success of "Jaws." The tension, however, lingered beyond the film's completion, and the animosity between the two actors remained a part of Hollywood lore.
Spielberg wanted Lee Marvin for Quint & Jon Voight for Hooper. We'll never know if Tom Selleck would've made for a better Indiana Jones over Harrison Ford, and the same goes for Spielberg's original casting choices for Captain Quint and Matt Hooper (ultimately played to perfection by Robert Shaw and Richard Dreyfuss).

Andrew Vabre “Andy” Devine was an American character actor and comic cowboy sidekick known for his distinctive raspy voice. Born in Flagstaff, Arizona on October 7, 1905, Andy Devine grew up in nearby Kingman, where his family moved when he was a year old.
Hiya, hiya, hiya!") when McConnell yelled the catchphrase "Plunk your magic twanger, Froggy!" The same phrase was later used by Andy Devine. Froggy was always interrupting the story and causing trouble. McConnell died of a heart attack in 1954. Andy Devine took over the show in 1955.
