They kiss at least four times; another time, it's specified that they don't kiss, which has interesting implications. And when they return to the Shire, Sam moves into Bag End with Frodo — no longer a servant, but an equal and a constant companion.
The text depicts the relationship as one of mutual friendship and loyalty. As Frodo is progressively weakened by the burden of carrying the Ring, Sam becomes increasingly resourceful, and increasingly tender in his care and concern for Frodo.

The only kissing I can recall is when Frodo kissed Merry, Pippin and Sam good-bye before he got on the ship to Elvenhome. Aragorn also kissed Boromir's brow as he lay dying.
Aragorn fell in love with Arwen at first sight. Thirty years later, the two were reunited in Lothlórien. Arwen reciprocated Aragorn's love, and on the mound of Cerin Amroth they committed themselves to marrying each other.
At that point, he passed down Bag End to his children and decided to head West, just like Frodo did 50 years before. Since Sam was a ring bearer for a brief time, he was granted passage into the Undying Lands, and he crossed over to once again reunite with Frodo.
Frodo from the books seems a lot more heroic and wonderful than movie Frodo. I haven't read the books yet (but I just ordered them so will read them soon!) , but did watch the movies over the years. Everyone on this sub always talks about book Frodo, and how brave he was and how he struggled and persevered.
Out of all his family members, apart from his parents, Bilbo was closest to his cousin Frodo, whom he identified as his nephew as opposed to their actual relations. He adopted his orphaned nephew after Primula and Drogo, Frodo's parents, died in the Brandywine River.

Sam's confrontation with the Ring's power reminds us why he emerges at the end of The Lord of the Rings as the unexpected hero of the novel. Sam wears the Ring and, to some degree, experiences the same delusions of grandeur and fame that all its wearers feel.
Frodo is the person who carries the Ring because of reasons which, ultimately, make him a completely ordinary person. Frodo's Hobbit nature allows him to be more incorruptible, discreet and all but invisible to Sauron.
Sam managed to snap Frodo out of the trance so he could recognise his friend. Frodo dropped mental defeat and told the other Hobbit he couldn't do it. Sam got up and agreed with him, and began to give words of encouragement to Frodo.
Frodo knows Gollum is motivated by his need for the ring, and understands this as a ring bearer himself. He sympathizes with Gollum after his conversation with Gandalf about how Bilbo spared him. He also knows he needs Gollum to find the way to Mordor, and likely wouldn't have been able to make it there without him.
Arguably, Frodo would never have made it to the fires if Sam didn't muster the strength to physically get him there. Later, when Gollum knowingly led Frodo through Shelob's lair, Sam saved Frodo's life.
By all accounts, Bilbo and Frodo seemed like eligible bachelors before leaving on their respective journeys. Upon returning, Bilbo had riches and practically became legend across the Shire and Frodo was looked at as a hero.
After the downfall of Sauron, Gimli travels with many of his kinsfolk to the Glittering Caves of Aglarond. He becomes the Lord of the Glittering Caves, and prospers there for many years, doing great works for the Kings of Gondor and Rohan. He never takes a wife and has no children.
