Even though it sells movies, there are no known poison spitting dinosaurs proven to exist scientifically. The myth surrounding venomous saliva was creatively added to Jurassic Park, but it could have been loosely based on the modern-day Komodo dragon.
MEXICO CITY--In one of the frightening scenes in the movie Jurassic Park, a creature called Dilophosaurus spits deadly wads of poison. However realistic that looked on the big screen, it's pure fantasy: There has been no hard fossil evidence that any dinosaur killed its prey with venom.

Was the T-rex venomous?
T. rex was the largest predator in its ecosystem with a powerful and (possibly) poisonous bite. It has been suggested, however, that T. rex was a scavenger, like the dinosaurian equivalent of a vulture, rather than an active predator.
Because of the way this water cycle has always circulated our planet, there is indeed a chance that the water in your glass is the same water that thirsty dinosaurs were drinking about 65 million years ago.

Dilophosaurus was featured in the novel Jurassic Park and its movie adaptation, where it was given the fictional abilities to spit venom and expand a neck frill, and was depicted as smaller than the real animal.
There is no evidence that ANY dinosaurs spit poison. The creators of Jurassic Park take further creative license in their depiction of the Dilophosaurus' characteristics. The vibrating fan that extends from the neck of the dinosaur when it attacks has never been supported by scientific fossil evidence.
Many people are at least vaguely familiar with Dilophosaurus thanks to its bit-part in the first Jurassic Park movie. It was that small-ish, cooing theropod with a pair of crests on its blunt head and that turned out to have a shocking extendible neck-frill and the ability to spit venom like a cobra.
The cute Dilophosaurus' ability to spit poison makes for one of the most memorable scenes in Jurassic Park — as well as one of the most inaccurate. The Dilophosaurus never spit poison. In fact, the Dilophosaurus didn't have poison at its disposal at all.
The Giganotosaurus also developed a rivalry with the sanctuary's Tyrannosaurus, and the Tyrannosaurus would eventually kill the Giganotosaurus with the aid of a Therizinosaurus.
But if we agree to make that imaginative leap, then Allosaurus was a far deadlier predator than the (much later) Tyrannosaurus rex—numerous specimens of this fierce, strong-jawed, three-ton meat-eater have been discovered across the western United States.
