Katniss loves her mother but resents the fact that she had to grow up so quickly and become the family provider at such a young age. As a result it is hard for her to trust people and she has all these walls up as I think she doesn't want to feel vulnerable and dependent on anyone.
Katniss has a conflicted relationship with her mother. Following her father's death, her mother fell into deep depression and now rarely speaks. As a result, Katniss has a difficult time feeling love and affection for her mother, even as she recognizes that her mother is a kind and intelligent woman.
Mrs. Everdeen joins Haymitch and Katniss and fills them in on Gale's condition, Katniss apologizes for her behavior to her mother and she forgives her. Mrs. Everdeen saves Gale's life. Mrs. Everdeen helps Katniss during her wedding dress shoot.
When her husband dies in a mining accident, however, she falls into a daze, unable to work and take care of her children. As a result, Katniss is forced to grow up quickly to support the family and can never bring herself to fully trust her mother again.
The death of her father appears to cause severe depression in her mother. This leaves 11-year-old Katniss as the sole carer of her mother and younger sister.

People who suffer from PTSD can also experience trouble sleeping, which both Katniss and Peeta deal with, exhibit self-destructive or reckless behavior or can be aggressive and irritable. Both tributes also have trouble controlling themselves and often react aggressively to situations that upset them.
Katniss is rendered deaf in one ear after she blows up the Careers' supplies, and she doesn't regain any hearing on her left side until afterwards when the Capitol gives her a hearing aid.
She was only 13 years old when she was killed in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, and her youth only makes the tragedy that much harder for Katniss to bear after everything else she had suffered. Prim's death is a truly heartbreaking moment.
Later, Katniss learned that Mr. Mellark had once been in love with her mother but that the woman had chosen a boy from the Seam—Katniss' father—instead. This completely changed Katniss' perspective of Peeta's family. She realized that Mr.
Katniss is angry and mistrusting of her mother because she feels that her mother abandoned her when she became depressed and silent. It is difficult for me to imagine the death of a loved one; I've never experienced it.
Their relationship was all friends. They trusted each other, but that doesn't mean they had romantic feelings for each other. Plus, Cinna's too old for Katniss.
Although she will never know for sure, Katniss does recognize that she cannot be with Gale. She will never be able to forgive him for his idea — the parachute bombs — that killed Prim.
Katniss feels betrayed, most of all by Haymitch, who used her and Peeta. Eventually she wakes to find Gale there. He's badly injured and tells her the Capitol bombed District 12 after the Games. He got Prim and Katniss's mother out in time, but the District 12 is gone.
His father pointed her out and told Peeta he had wanted to marry Katniss's mother, but she ran off with a coal miner who sang so well even the birds would stop and listen.
She is angry she wasn't informed of the plan and lashes out at him. Despite the fact that Haymitch has been working since the very beginning to save her, she cannot forgive him for letting the Capitol take Peeta alive.
The plan is to break the victors out of the game and start the rebellion. They need Katniss because of her power and influence, but they know she won't join if Peeta dies, so they work to protect them both during the Quarter Quell.
However, after Mrs. Mellark reentered the bakery, Katniss witnessed her scolding and beating Peeta after he burnt two loaves of bread and telling him to feed them to the pigs just before disappearing to help a customer. She was not supportive of Peeta when his name was drawn to compete in the 74th Hunger Games.
Katniss here's this and understands that even though she may not love Peeta (then) that it's one less person who has to die. (At least that's what I have always thought.) Katniss realizes that if she pretends to be in love with Peeta people will want the capitol to let them survive.
His mother is very sour and is known to hit Peeta, hard enough to leave marks. I believe it is mentioned that Peeta is the youngest and has older brothers, but the most we hear of them is that he comes in second in wrestling and his brother takes first. Peeta also says his family doesn't really need him.
Prim hears Katniss and turns to see her running towards her. As Katniss gets nearer to the barricade, a second wave of bombs go off, sending Katniss hurtling through the air and killing many more children, including Prim. The last word from Prim in the novel before she died was "Katniss".
Before the Capitol battle, Gale had explained to Katniss his series of bombs designed to feed off human compassion: a small bomb would go off, and then when medical aid rushed in, a second bomb would go off, killing those people as well. Incidentally, it's this exact type of bomb that took Prim's life.
Answer and Explanation: Prim is killed by a bomb at the very end of the battle. Alma Coin sees an opportunity to turn the Capitol troops against Snow, and she decides the resulting loss of life from her plan is a worthwhile price to pay.
Katniss rarely sings because it reminds her of her father, but she now remembers a morbid song that her father taught her: “The Hanging Tree.” This moment in the story is significant in multiple ways.
In fact, by our count, Katniss experiences over two dozen traumatic events throughout The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay—Part 1. That's a lot of trauma. Katniss' life is threatened multiple times in the Games—and unlike most combat veterans, Katniss knows the people she kills.
In the book, blood streams from Katniss' ear, leaving her permanently deaf in her left ear. She doesn't regain hearing until the Capitol fixes her with a replacement aid after winning the Hunger Games.
