Flight: Stormbreaker allows its user to fly through the air without to spin it like Mjølnir. Healing: The axe was able to fully heal Thor and restore his strength when he was badly burned exposing himself to the power of the dying star.
With these events, it can be deduced that Stormbreaker is powerful enough to overcome six infinity stones and kill Thanos, something Mjolnir couldn't do. There are more common abilities for Thor that Stormbreaker possesses. Stormbreaker is able to not only focus, but enhance Thor's abilities.
Mjolnir heals Thor's injuries, and he uses it to battle his brother Loki, ultimately using it to destroy the Bifröst Bridge. Thor uses Mjolnir in combat throughout The Avengers (2012). He wields it to battle against Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Hulk, Loki, and Chitauri soldiers.

In God of War, Kratos throws the weapon into the Lake of Nine and awakens the World Serpent, who rises out of the water. Thanos himself implied that Thor would have killed him if he had gone for the head, thus preventing him from snapping. Post-Awakened Thor later killed Thanos with one hit when he went for the head using Stormbreaker.
Note that all the members of the original Avengers team — Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye — survived Thanos' attack. Presumably they will unite one last time in Avengers: Endgame to reverse the curse.
After saving the world, making a play to sacrifice himself, and defeating Thanos' army, he was not able to lift Mjolnir in Age of Ultron. This shows that being a hero and doing occasional good deeds does not make you worthy. Tony wasn't a bad guy per se, but certainly not his best self yet.

The movie doesn't explain Thor's motivations for giving up Stormbreaker, but it makes sense that Chris Hemsworth simply wanted Love to have a powerful weapon to aid her in battle. It's unlikely that he could give her Mjolnir, considering that so few people in the MCU have been deemed worthy of its power.
Bill's been without Stormbreaker for a while now, as, in last year's Thor #3, Thor destroyed the powerful hammer after the pair got into a fight over his decision to join Galactus in a fight against the Black Winter. In a harrowing scene, Thor threw Mjolnir at Bill, which the worthy hero caught.
