Every superhero has a tragic origin, but Supergirl's life has been harder than most, and surprisingly her happy ending just came from one of DC's darkest universes. While everyone else lost loved ones or their own lives to DCeased's Anti-Life virus, Supergirl was reunited with her long-lost family.
No, the two characters have never dated or been explicitly portrayed as love interests. But that didn't prevent fans of the pairing, known as "Supercorp" (a portmanteau of "Supergirl" and "Luthor Corp," the Luthor-family company where Lena works), from hoping for five years for a potential romance.

Who does Kara end up with?
One of the things Kara had brought up throughout the show is how she wanted love and family, including romantic love. But, she ends the show single (and not in an empowering way either).
The Supergirl star, 31, gave birth to son Huxley Robert Wood — her first child with husband Chris Wood — "a few weeks ago," she revealed Friday alongside a photo of the newborn's tiny hand, "and this little boy is everything."
Supergirl season 1 set up Kara's romantic interest in James Olsen. The two were coworkers at CatCo and James had the benefit of already knowing her secret identity as Supergirl and it seemed like the pair were headed in the direction of potentially being an endgame relationship.

In the season finale 3x23 (Battles Lost and Won), Mon-El decides to leave back to the future as he realizes he is needed. He makes the selfless sacrifice to fulfill his role as a Legionnaire and return back with Imra. Because he had to leave, their relationship had to end.

After a season at odds, Lena and Kara finally made amends and restored their friendship in the Season 5 finale of Supergirl. However, their reconciliation showed just how silly their feud was in the first place.
