To make a long story short, Superman and Doomsday fought to the death, before the Kryptonian Regeneration Matrix zapped Superman back to life after the Eradicator stole his body and brought it to the Fortress of Solitude. And all of it was thanks to a wedding needing to be postponed for the sake of marketing!

In actuality, Eradicator stole Superman's body and placed it in a regeneration matrix in the Fortress of Solitude, drawing on his recovering energies for power.
After the Justice League succeeded in resurrecting Superman, he is very disoriented. Clark looked around the fragments of the statue, trying to gather his thoughts. The Justice League then arrived behind him, knowing that the Man of Steel is back.
What happened to Doomsday after the death of Superman?
Doomsday's skeleton was retrieved and his flesh regrown by Lex Luthor using Superman's Kryptonian DNA, who gave Doomsday to Darkseid to repay Earth's war debt to Apokolips (Darkseid sought to control Doomsday since their last encounter). The Joker then used his power to repeatedly kill Batman in the most grotesque and violent ways imaginable, highligting the lengths of the madman's depravity. The crowning acheivement was having vultures devour the Caped Crusader. Unfortunately, Joker was eroding the fabric of space and time with his antics.
Doomsday's dark connection to Superman, as a monster from outer space with a shared origin on Krypton, explains why he is Superman's biggest fear. In various storylines, Superman has been transformed into Doomsday, showcasing the physical link and intense hatred that Doomsday has for Kryptonians.

The regeneration matrix allowed the Eradicator to siphon off Superman's powers for himself in order to pose as him as it slowly revived him from death, or at least some kind of special Kryptonian death-like state.
