At the end of Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein dies wishing that he could destroy the Monster he created. The Monster visits Frankenstein's body. He tells Walton that he regrets the murders he has committed and that he intends to commit suicide.
Once he learns that Victor is dead, the creature feels that he no longer has a purpose. He both hates and pities Frankenstein and knows that ultimately he cannot live without his creator, no matter how much the two of them hated each other.
At the end of the novel, Victor dies on Robert Walton's ship in the Arctic Circle. The boat captain finds his body and the monster who mourns Victor's death in the room. The Creature disappears from the boat to kill himself.
Once Victor is dead, there is no hope of a companion for the creature. His vengeance on the man who brought him to life/back to life is complete. His entire existence has been consumed by this desire for revenge and that leaves him at completely loose ends once he's finished the task.
After realizing that he is horribly different from human beings, the monster cries, “Of what a strange nature is knowledge! It clings to the mind, when it has once seized on it, like a lichen on the rock.”
I shall die, and what I now feel be no longer felt. Soon these burning miseries will be extinct. I shall ascend my funeral pile triumphantly and exult in the agony of the torturing flames.
His tale told, Frankenstein dies. The monster then sneaks on board, gives an eloquent soliloquy about his sorrow and leaps off the ship onto an ice floe — gone to find himself some wood and burn himself alive.
The creature seems to show no remorse for his actions and offers no apology to Victor through most of the book. When Captain Walton happens upon the creature mourning the death of Victor, the creature unburden himself to Walton, revealing his remorse and begging pardon from Victor's corpse.
Frankenstein becomes depressed while working on his creation and when he finished and saw the result. The creation is depressed because he is a misfit and was abandoned. This depression is worsened when they both begin to isolate themselves and lament over what happened.
Mary Shelley's original novel never gives the monster a name, although when speaking to his creator, Victor Frankenstein, the monster does say "I ought to be thy Adam" (in reference to the first man created in the Bible).
Victor feels extreme guilt for the deaths of William, Justine, and Henry. He is scared that the monster will continue to kill people until he gets his final revenge on Victor since the monster threatened this revenge would take place on Victor's wedding night.

As the narrator, Victor explains that he felt sympathy for the monster at first, but when the monster admits to destroying the lives of his brother and Justine, Victor is enraged. He refuses the monster's request. The monster can torture him, but he will not make another wicked creature.
Victor Frankenstein, is obsessed with finding the source of human life. To do so, he creates a monster. He regrets his choice when the creature starts to cause destruction. Victor is too ambitious and is never satisfied with his knowledge, so he takes it to dangerous levels.
What emotion does the monster have when seeing that Victor died in Frankenstein?
At the end of the novel, when the monster encounters the narrator, Robert Walton, he reveals the depth of his emotion by telling Walton that he wept and pained at the sight of Victor's dead body.
The creature has been struck with guilt and wants to feel peace, but knows that it is no longer possible to feel innocent. The creature believes that to rid himself from the guilt, death is the only answer.
Why does Victor think the monster killed his brother?
It's a lesson he forgot, to his detriment. Near where his brother died, Victor sees a figure resembling the monster. He realizes that the monster killed William, which means that he, Victor, is really responsible since he created the monster.
Shelley creates sympathy for the 'monster' by emphasising his innocence; the reader sees him as impressionable, his vengeful nature only a product of a society that rejected him.
The flat-top was supposed to indicate the top of the head having been sliced off – like a boiled egg – in order to facilitate the brain of the freshly deceased criminal cut down from the gibbet. The top of the cranium is then replaced with a flat sheet of metal ( don't ask me how the hair was supposed to be attached ).
(Shelley 35) Victor's desire for the creature to have beautiful features fails, resulting in the creature's ugly “watery eyes” and “straight black lips” (35). Additionally, though “his hair was of a lustrous black, and flowing,” something that could be understood to be beautiful becomes something ugly.
The last line of Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus," which reads, "He was soon borne away by the waves, and lost in darkness and distance," holds both a literal and symbolic meaning that connects with the title of the book and the story's themes and characters.
'Seek happiness in tranquillity and avoid ambition, even if it be only the apparently innocent one of distinguishing yourself in science and discoveries. Yet why do I say this? I have myself been blasted in these hopes, yet another may succeed. '
