Ursula is only mentioned in this novel as her daughter, Uma, is one of the main characters. When Uma was a child, Ursula gave her daughter a piece of her necklace, which Uma wore it inside a locket.
Ursula is also the only daughter and child of King Poseidon, god of the seas. She was based on the character of the same name and partially based on Ariel from the Disney film, The Little Mermaid and the Sea witch from the fairy tale "The Little Mermaid" by Hans Christian Anderson.
In addition to being the god of the sea, Once's Poseidon is also the father of Merrin Dungey's Ursula, a concept omitted from Disney's The Little Mermaid in 1989, though later included in the Broadway musical.
The Nereid Amphitrite was the daughter of Nereus and Doris, wife of Poseidon and, subsequently, the Queen of the Sea. Together with her sisters Kymatolege and Kymodoke she possessed the power to still the winds and calm the sea. Poseidon and Amphitrite had a son, Triton who was a merman, and a daughter, Rhodos.
Ariel kills the Sea Witch at the end of the movie.
At the end of the 1989 animated film, Eric saves the day and kills Ursula. But in the new movie, Ariel is no longer the damsel in distress. She takes matters into her own hands and kills Ursula herself.

Morgana is a villainess who appears in The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea. She is the infamous younger sister of Ursula and the older sister of Ulyana, but Ursula is worse than Morgana.
But in a desire to re-market these ladies to a chic clientele, it appears that they decided to shave more than a few pounds off of Ursula the Sea Witch and Alice in Wonderland's Queen of Hearts. Because in order to be fashionable, you must be thin. The fact is, Ursula was fashionable.
While it is known that her mother perished, there is no story attached to the event. However, much later, in 2008, an animated The Little Mermaid prequel revealed that Ariel's mother was crushed by a pirate ship during an altercation between humans and merpeople.
Ariel makes this deal because she falls in love with Prince Eric and desires to be with him. Ursula specifically targets Ariel because she sees an opportunity to exploit her curiosity about the human world and her fascination with Prince Eric.
Queen Athena was the wife of King Triton, and the mother of Ariel and her six older sisters. She was the Queen of Atlantica, and beloved by her family and subjects.

Ariel was offered by Ursula to become a human for three days and would become human permanently if she shares a kiss of true love with Eric, but will turn back into a mermaid and be bound to Ursula for eternity if she fails to kiss Eric.
In The Little Mermaid, the chef scene from the animated version. wasn't included in the live action remake. This is because marine animals. like founder and Sebastian are photorealistic, and it would have been too much to see them.
Athena looked down in anger and cursed Medusa for betraying her. Medusa was sent to a faraway island and was cursed so that no man would want her. She was given cracked skin, madness, and her signature snake hair and stone eyes. Medusa was now a monster woman.
Poseidon claims Percy is his favorite son but he has at least two other good ones that have been just as Great: Thesus- Great King of Athens who slayed the minotaur (Posiedon's mistake) and did a bunch of other Heroic stuff.
Although Poseidon had a large host of lovers and many children by these women, he only had one official wife: Amphitrite, one of the Nereids. Poseidon and his wife had several offspring, including the well-known sea creature Triton.
