One of Darkseid's deadliest weapons is the Yellow Lantern ring he attained when he fought Sinestro in Korugar's orbit. While Soranik tried to help her dad out, Supergirl intervened in a scary manner, allowing Darkseid to rip Sinestro's head off.
Darkseid is a warlord who regularly engages in genocide, so regardless of his willpower, a Green Lantern ring wouldn't give him its power for the simple reason that he's a tyrant. In the comics, Darkseid had to absorb the green willpower energy directly to use it.
Afterward, the wayward Green Lantern ring flew off, with Darkseid both intrigued and possibly afraid of it. The willpower required to use a Green Lantern's ring likely rivals Darkseid's own, making it either completely useless or incredibly effective against him.
Both were created around the same time and both had similar looks, making comparisons inevitable. Debate has raged over who is the most effective of the two, and while both have cut multiple paths of destruction across their universes, Darkseid is by and large the scarier of the two.
Batman has one of the strongest wills in the entire DC Universe, his willpower is certainly comparable to that of Hal Jordan, but Batman also has one of the darkest histories and most traumatic childhoods of any hero in the DC universe, which is why Batman will never get to use a Green Lantern ring.

He's powerful but not invincible, and there are ways to stop him. Hal Jordan, on the other hand, did not need any of these means to beat Superman. Instead, he uses the pure strength of the Green Lantern Corps, proving that a Green Lantern alone is powerful enough to defeat Superman.
Not only do these rings allow the user to fly and survive in outer space, they also enable a Green Lantern to create energy constructs in the shape of anything they can imagine. This actually gives Lanterns a very easy way to beat beings like Superman – by manifesting Kryptonite radiation out of thin air.
