While it is not explicitly shown, it is heavily implied that Jack, feeling totally alienated by Alice and wanting to maintain control over her, kidnaps her and holds her against her will so that they can both enter the simulation and live a happier life.
Bunny (Olivia Wilde) helps Alice escape after revealing she's known all along that the world they were living in isn't real. In the midst of Alice's escape, Shelley stabs Frank, angry with what's happened and ready to take over.
Jack gets his promotion after Alice gets to HQ and mysteriously wakes up at home in her bed with hazy memories. It's likely because she returned to her body in the real world, Jack realized she'd found out his secret, and he forcibly put her back in and commissioned the mind wipe.
Alice does not see the plane until after she begins to experience some other hallucinations, which is a good sign that Don't Worry Darling's plane crash is fake. Furthermore, it is also important to note that she sees the red plane after noticing her neighbor holding an identical toy.

However, in the original version, the concept is more fleshed out. Alice discovers her husband Jack faked her death in order to join a program in which women are no longer entitled to a career. Then they both exit the simulation, but Alice is forced back into it.
When Alice wraps her head in saran wrap to perhaps test her mortality, when she is crushed by a wall while cleaning the window, when she cracks eggs that turn out to be empty, and even the fake plane crash.
Did Alice sleep with Frank in Don't Worry Darling?
[Spoiler Warning] At a dinner party, Frank claims that he and Alice slept together. It's the only indication of such an encounter during the film, and everyone—including Alice—seems shocked at the accusation. But she also doesn't deny it.
After Frank calls Jack on the stage and rewards him with a promotion, he asks him to dance – but it sounds more like an order or a threat than a request. Jack breaks into a tap routine, but he has none of the lightness or charm of a tap dancer – if anything, he looks like he's dancing for his life.
Then again, at the end, she defies the King and Queen &c (“You're nothing but a pack of cards!”) and wakes to find leaves falling on her face, with her sister beside her. So she was dreaming for over 99% of the book. She's awake for a bit longer in Through the Looking-Glass, but not a lot.

~ Frank to Alice. Frank is the main antagonist of the 2022 psychological thriller film Don't Worry Darling. He is a mysterious man who is Shelley's husband, Jack's boss, and the founder of the "Victory Project". However, when Alice discovers conspiracy on him and his work, she learns his dark secret.
Alice's neighbor Bunny shows up and reveals that she knows they're living in a simulation. Bunny is there voluntarily because she lost her children in real life and she gets to see her fake children in virtual reality.
So Alice bolts, heading straight for Victory headquarters in hopes of freedom. With the entirety of the Victory security team after her, Alice is able to narrowly squeeze through the gate that leads to her escape from the simulation.
The twist ending of Don't Worry Darling is that Victory is actually a simulation. Frank (Chris Pine) came up with this idea because he wanted men to be able to control women and live as if it's still the 1950s. Alice is understandably horrified to learn about what Victory really is.

It turns out that before they joined the Victory Project, Alice and Jack were a bickering, modern-day married couple. Jack lost his job, which Alice said was fine—she's a surgeon, and she's down to take on more 30-hour shifts in the operating room.
Peg's perpetual pregnancies may be because a perpetually-pregnant wife and/or a passel of kids might be part of her "husband's" Fifties fantasy, or it may be an outright Baby Trap to keep her under control.
The film ends with Alice making a break for it, with the screen fading to black and all the audience is left with is Alice's breath, suggesting she indeed did wake up in the real world—although being tied down and waking up next to her deceased boyfriend.
It seems as though accidentally unplugging herself from the VR simulation and becoming vaguely aware of her surroundings' artificiality causes Alice to hallucinate; she imagines the walls of her house are closing in and at one point sees her friend Margaret in the reflection of a mirror.
I think the big theme about this movie is escaping reality. Living in a world that has better offer than the world we live in now. But as seen in this movie, the real world ramifications will catch up on you. You can't truly escape it.
As for the earthquakes, TikTok users either believe they are an effect of all the men leaving at once, or it is simply the characters' physical bodies shifting positions in the real world. Gaslighting is a theme present throughout the movie, as Alice is told she is going crazy anytime she brings up her experiences.
