Bill, relieved to see his brother, asks him if "she" was fast, with Georgie mentioning how he couldn't keep up with "it", leading Bill to realize that "Georgie" is Pennywise, having taught the real Georgie that boats are called "she".
While he comes close to presenting as the real Georgie, it was his fatal mistake of calling the boat “it” instead of “she” that caused Bill to acknowledge that it was Pennywise in disguise. Bill shoots the look-a-like, and the Losers have an all out brawl that defeats the creature for the time being.
Bill was portrayed again by Jaeden Martell as a child and James McAvoy as an adult in the 2017 adaptation and its 2019 sequel. In this interpretation, the sequel reveals that he pretended to be sick the day Georgie was killed, resulting in his guilt over his brother's death.
A neighbor witnesses his disappearance, but the fact his body is never found gives Bill hope Georgie somehow survived. Pennywise prays on this in the film, using that hope to lure Bill in the finale. Bill later finds the tatters of Georgie's coat and finally accepts his brother is gone.

In the novel, it's explained that Pennywise targets children because their fears are less complex than those of adults, allowing It to easily take the shape of whatever its victim fears.

When Pennywise either kills you or exposes you to its Deadlights light, It takes what amounts to your soul and brings it there where it drives you mad with fear forever. So when you float, you are actually floating around in space, not water.
It is almost assured that they did get married thanks to Big Bang Theory showing that Georgie and two of his ex-wives sent him congratulatory text messages. Thanks to what happened in Young Sheldon season 6, it is almost certain that they did get married, even if they ended up divorced.

IT (2017)- Pennywise is seeing drooling many times throughout the movie. This was not an effect. Bill Skarsgård had to have prosthetic teeth in that made him drool excessively in many scenes.
Bill asks Georgie to go to the basement to get the wax so that the boat can "Float". Georgie goes to the basement and gets the wax. He then runs because of a noise he heard. Bill then put the wax on the boat.
They reach the conclusion that Pennywise has all of the adults under some sort of spell that prohibits them from seeing him. The adults of Derry are shown to be villainous in their own right as well. The adults of Derry are shown to be true villains of the story in the same way as Pennywise.
However, he doesn't seem to target adults like he does kids, which is odd, seeing as how, as many will agree, adults have just as many fears, worries, phobias, anxieties, and insecurities as any child, maybe more since they've lived longer and thus had more time to develop more things to be afraid of.
