In Zack Snyder's Justice League, Darkseid discovers that the Anti-Life Equation is carved on the surface of Earth. After being fought back by the defenders of Earth, the location of the Equation is lost.
How did Darkseid forget Earth had an Anti-Life Equation?
Snyder explained the villain's apparent forgetfulness on Vero: "He almost died when he returned to [Apokolips, Darkseid's planet] he was in a fight for power and much time passed before he was in a position of power again and by then all who had been with him had been Slayed."
After decades of looking for the Anti-Life Equation, Darkseid finally found the source of it, and he found it not to use it, but to destroy it. While Erebos was eventually destroyed due to the heroes' combined efforts, it was still one of the most terrifying enemies ever faced in comics.

Who is immune to the Anti-Life Equation?
Shilo Norman (the current Mister Miracle) is able to break free from this with the help of Metron, gaining immunity from the Equation in the process. He passes this immunity to his allies by drawing a specific pattern (the pattern is shown to be the New Genesis word for freedom) on their face.
The only known antidote to the Equation are the concepts of Freedom and Hope; the New Genesis hieroglyph of Freedom, called the Metron Emblem, significantly wears down the formula's ability to dominate other wills, allowing the infected to fight against the Equation and win while exposed to the symbol.
However, Darkseid's life essence endured even the death of his body and fell back in time, where he was reborn as "Boss Dark Side", aided by his resurrected minions and the supervillain Libra. Once again bound to the form of a human, "Boss Dark Side" began to appear in a number of titles in the run up to Final Crisis.
Just looking at the numbers, Darkseid would win. His Omega Beams wipe out anything they hit from existance, or in the case of Batman send that person back in time.
While Steppenwolf managed to open a portal to summon Darkseid, he was defeated and slain by the Justice League before Darkseid could come across. He could only watch his enemies, lead by the Dark Knight, see that his three Mother Boxes on Earth were disabled.
Darkseid suffered a definitive defeat in the History Lesson and he was fortunate to escape with his life because Ares came incredibly close to killing him. But while the Greek God of War nearly struck the killing blow on Darkseid, the ruler of Apokolips was already substantially weakened by Ares' allies.
This makes Hyperion a strong candidate to take down Darkseid because he's basically Marvel's version of Superman. Hyperion doesn't pull his punches, and he's very aggressive. He can be an anti-hero or a villain, and he may become the dark Superman needed to kill Darkseid.
Longtime Darkseid fans will know that Suli was the only woman Darkseid truly loved; she was killed as part of a conspiracy between Desad and Darkseid's mother Heggra, in a plot to harden Darkseid's heart.
Superman's powerful will resisted the Equation; but when his pregnant lover, Lois Lane, was killed during the invasion, the damage to Superman's psyche left him vulnerable and he became susceptible to the overlord's influence, allowing Darkseid to use a transformed Superman as his new champion to rule over the planet.
Usually, Darkseid is capable of beating down Superman in a fight, but it's often depicted as a close one-on-one fight that tests both to their limits. Here, Darkseid attacks as a genuine God of Evil, beating two versions of Clark Kent without breaking a swear.
During Simonson's series, Orion was able to obtain the Anti-Life Equation, a mathematical equation stating that "there is no free will, only Darkseid". Darkseid has coveted the Anti-Life Equation for aeons to take complete control of the entire Multiverse.
As mentioned before, there were two heroes responsible for Darkseid's demise, and the other was none other than Green Arrow. While it was the Atom who destroyed Darkseid's brain, it was Oliver Queen's expert archery skills that allowed Ray to be shot into Darkseid's head to begin with.
Weaknesses. Vulnerability to Radion: Darkseid and all of the New Gods are vulnerable to a substance called Radion. Its source is unknown and its effects are toxic only in sustained amounts or after explosive exposure. The average New God can be slain by an application of Radion from a Radion blaster or bomb.
