Kiri was born after Grace died following a mortal bullet wound given to her by Quaritch, with her then-empty avatar giving birth to the child despite not having any consciousness.
It could be an immaculate conception. There's a theory that the film director James Cameron could be hiding a vital feature of the Na'vi. According to that theory, Na'vi could reproduce asexually. Unless that theory is true, Grace was impregnated by someone.
Augustine's colleague Norm Spellman (Joel David Moore) was the father and Grace conceived Kiri before the end of Avatar before somehow giving birth in her Avatar body. However, the more interesting theory is that Kiri is literally the child of Eywa due to some sort of immaculate conception.
The answer to how is Sigourney Weaver in Avatar 2 came down to her connection with Eywa. While Dr. Grace Augustine died in the first movie, Kiri ended up miraculously being born of Grace's inert avatar.
The Soul Tree is the heart of Eywa, the goddess that guides all of Pandora. Avatar: The Way of Water illustrates that Kiri has a special connection to Eywa, which means she can wield powers and feel her more deeply than other Na'vi.
Not long after Grace Augustine's death, her dormant avatar was discovered to be pregnant, and Jake and Neytiri adopted the child when she was born. Kiri has an unusually strong connection with Eywa—more than even that of a tsahìk.
Indeed, Kiri's father in Avatar may not exist at all. Considering what Avatar and Avatar 2 has revealed - and withheld - regarding Kiri's true nature, the most likely explanation for this mystery is that Kiri was created by Eywa through the Tree of Souls. Kiri may even be a direct reincarnation of Grace.
Though there were some theories about Kiri being a reincarnation of Grace, that isn't quite the case. Instead, Kiri's origins are a little more complicated. She was naturally conceived and born of Dr. Grace's Na'vi avatar, adopted by Jake and Neytiri, and raised in the rainforest.
Grace was fascinated with how the Na'vi were connected to each other, Pandora, and Eywa. Now, Kiri, who is intrinsically connected to Grace, has a much deeper connection to the Na'vi deity than anyone else. Kiri can hear Eywa in a way no other Na'vi has been able to, not even the spiritual leaders.
Paz Socorro is Spider's mom after a romantic relationship with Quaritch led to her getting pregnant. She gave birth to Spider, whose birth name is Miles (just like his father), in 2154. However, Paz Socorro died shortly after that in combat during Avatar's finale.
Arranged pairings occur in certain clans, especially between heirs of the clan leader and tsahìk. Once an appropriate mate has been selected, a process that can take many years, the pair will connect queues at a sacred area such as the Tree of Voices to create an emotional bond that lasts a lifetime.
What we do know is that Grace's last moments of consciousness in Avatar are tied to a Tree of Souls. She seemingly died during that ritual, but she also said that she was "with" Eywa, and we now know that while Grace might not be fully alive anymore, something of her essence was preserved in her Na'vi avatar.
Her father is not a father, her father is another mother, Eywa, the Great Mother, the sentient life force of Pandora itself that exists in all things there, but is rarely understood. So essentially yes, Kiri was born from Eywa just like Anakin Skywalker was allegedly conceived by the Force itself and its midichlorians.
Grace was bewildered by the Tree of Souls, wishing she was in a better condition to still collect samples. In a trance-like state, the Na'vi and Mo'at prayed in the hope that Eywa would permanently transfer Grace's consciousness to her avatar body. Unfortunately, she died from her fatal wounds.
Another theory would be that Kiri tapped too much into her connection with Eywa without any sort of training which ended up causing her strong seizure. Her connection to Eywa also allowed her to briefly meet her deceased mother, Dr. Grace, in a vision and even communicate with her.
One of the lead characters, Kiri, is canonically neurodivergent - she is diagnosed with a form of epilepsy after having a seizure underwater. Importantly, humans attribute her spiritual experiences to frontal lobe seizures.
Kiri is a young Na-vi around fourteen years of age. Since she was conceived through an avatar body (a genetically engineered human/Na'vi-hybrid body, designed to serve as a remotely controlled vessel for a human mind) she was born with human-like traits, such as eyebrows and five fingers instead of four.
Riley leaves. Grace assures Morgan that Athena will unite everyone. Grace goes into labor. Morgan delivers the baby, but much to their devastation, she is stillborn.
A deleted scene from the end of Avatar (2009) revealed that Neytiri was pregnant, so Neteyam was born shortly after the events of the original movie. In accordance with the sequel's timeline, Jake and Neytiri's son Neteyam is nearly 15 years old in Avatar: The Way of Water.
Spider was shown to have grown a strong bond with Kiri, with many speculating that there could be a potential future romance between the pair, while his tumultuous relationship with Neytiri came to a dramatic head in the final moments of The Way of Water's climactic battle.
And after Kiri has a seizure while connected to the Metkayina's underwater spirit tree, human scientist Norm says that the “religious ecstasy” she experiences while communing with Pandora is actually “classic frontal lobe epilepsy” and Kiri has not been experiencing the Great Mother at all.
However, following the announcement in May 2019 of three new Star Wars films, the sequels' release dates were pushed back by two years, with Avatar 3, being scheduled to be released on December 22, 2023.
