One night while on duty, he came across the site where Carnage was giving birth to the new symbiote. Carnage, needing a host to hide the symbiote to keep it from Venom, bonded it to Mulligan.
Born from Carnage as the 1000th symbiote in its lineage, "Toxin" was feared to be the strongest and most dangerous of their race by both Carnage and Venom besides Knull. Shortly after being born, the symbiote united with police officer Pat Mulligan.
In the comics, Patrick Mulligan was a former New York City Police Department police officer who became bonded to a symbiote known as Toxin. This symbiote, who was the offspring of Carnage, was the first symbiote who was an ally of Spider-Man.
Venom, however, wanted to raise and train the new symbiote as an ally and partner. Weakened by the actual birthing, Carnage was unable to kill the newborn symbiote. Supplanting the symbiote in Patrick Mulligan, a New York City cop, it returned in later days. Venom named the new symbiote Toxin, after himself.
The Toxin symbiote has a long and troubled history in the Marvel universe as both a villain and an anti-hero. Toxin's place in Venom and Carnage's genetic line and its difficulty with hosts have all helped define the symbiote and its ever-expanding place in the Marvel Universe.
That same issue also showcases his fully-formed symbiote form when he finally bonds with Officer Mulligan during a fight with his father and grandpappy. During this fight, one thing became abundantly clear: as strong as Venom and Carnage are, Toxin is much, much stronger.
The Anti-Venom Symbiote is physically as strong and as fast as the original Venom but its unique cleansing powers make it caustic to other Symbiotes. In addition, it is resistant to sonic-based attacks as well as fire and heat. It may not be as strong as Toxin but the Anti-Venom is capable of destroying all Symbiotes.
The son of Carnage, Toxin, was believed to be the most powerful symbiote ever created. The raw power of Toxin was so great that he was feared even by the King in Black, Knull, creator and leader of the symbiotes.
In fact, it is the bonds that Toxin has made with his human hosts that have made him strong enough to stave off Carnage's onslaught, saving both his own body as well as Bren's life.
Due to the fact that Venom trying to kill Toxin (again with the Venom kidnapping Toxin). Toxin now has a deep hatred for Venom, which coincides with Eddie's dislike of Venom.
With every symbiote, the ability to spawn a new puts the former in danger, as there is a possibility of the spawn is normally more powerful than the former. Knowing this, if venom were to spawn again, carnage would be rendered useless against the newer spawn, whether it be his or venom's.
Venom sees Holland's Spider-Man on TV, licking the screen and remarking that "He looks delicious." The implication was clearly that the Symbiote wanted to go after Spider-Man.
Venom's grandson Toxin is the darkest symbiote hero as King in Black confirms. Toxin was created from the remains of Carnage and shares some of his abilities, including shape-shifting and webbing. However, he is also able to create tendrils from his body that can pierce or strangle enemies.
Carnage insisted on killing it, but Venom was concerned that as the 1,000th Symbiote of their line, "Toxin" could potentially become psychotic as a result of genetic breakdown.
Toxin is the strongest out of all the symbiotes pretty much. He was the spawn of Carnage, who is already a beast who has taken on the combined might of Spider-Man and Venom, being stronger than both of them combined.
Sleeper is another member of the Venom line of symbiotes; the most recent offspring of the Venom symbiote, he is considered siblings with Carnage and the Life Foundation symbiotes (Lasher, Phage, Scream, Agony & Riot).
According to symbiote biology it would be The All-Black, also known as The Necrosword. Due to being the first symbiote knull ever made, it's already weak as it is, only granting the basic suit and itself as a weapon.
Having bonded with the symbiote, the two became the being known as Venom. During this time, it spawned seven offspring and a clone; its first child later had three of its own, producing the symbiotes known as Carnage, Scream, Lasher, Phage, Agony, and Riot.
While most of the Life Foundation symbiotes were alternate versions of Venom (mostly weaker than the original), Lasher powers gave him more of an edge. Lasher has unique weapon with whip-like tendrils which are very powerful and lethal – something fitting of his name.
To avoid a villain repeat, it's possible Venom 3 will position Toxin as the more heroic figure that he often is in Marvel Comics, and the two will team up against a different, hopefully visually distinct threat. Regardless, with Venom 3 set for release on November 8, 2024, more information should be on the way soon.
