But did you also know that the original vision for the human side of Venom wasn't Eddie, but a woman who blamed her tragic losses on Spider-Man?
"The Nativity" arc in Venom #164 features the alien symbiote becoming "pregnant" and giving birth to the Sleeper symbiote, resulting in Eddie Brock having vivid nightmares and experiencing symptoms similar to an expectant parent.

Riot originated on the planet Klyntar. At some point, he found himself on an asteroid with some other symbiotes. They were found by astronauts employed by the Life Foundation, and were contained and taken back to Earth.
Venom sees Holland's Spider-Man on TV, licking the screen and remarking that "He looks delicious." The implication was clearly that the Symbiote wanted to go after Spider-Man.

By eating Carnage, Venom is effectively returning his spawn back to his former "unborn" state within Venom's mass, not taking anything he didn't already have into his cells.
With every symbiote, the ability to spawn a new puts the former in danger, as there is a possibility of the spawn is normally more powerful than the former. Knowing this, if venom were to spawn again, carnage would be rendered useless against the newer spawn, whether it be his or venom's.
In addition, Venom has come out on top as the victor in many battles with Symbiotes like Carnage, Hybrid, and Scream (all of which are arguably more powerful than he is).
The Anti-Venom symbiote was created when remnants of the Venom symbiote collided with Mister Negative's healing powers. Following his terminal cancer diagnosis, Brock decided to sell the Venom symbiote on the black market and donate the proceeds to charitable causes as a way to atone for his various crimes.
After starting out as a villain, Venom eventually becomes the savior of the universe, sacrificing himself in an immensely painful way to restore life to everyone who ever lived. For Venom, there could be no more fitting end, as he's used his abilities to become something like a God to the Marvel Universe.
Anne commented on it was nice, only misinterpreted by Eddie about their kiss, but she clarified that it was about the power as Eddie suggested. Anne would also promise Eddie to not tell Dan about their mutual kiss.
