But in the book he got his leg amputated and that didn't happen in the movies which really irritated me. In catching fire there were a few times where hed either slip or trip or not be as fast as the others and in the book it makes sense bc he know he has a prosthetic but in the movie he just looks really clumsy.
Once the games begin, Peeta forms alliances with the Careers, which Katniss does not initially realize is part of his plot to protect her. To show the injury would have been too gory for audiences, especially on top of Katniss' burns. Apparently a more serious version of his leg injury made it to production but ended up on the cutting-room floor, according to the film's senior make-up artist Ve Neill.

Is Katniss permanently deaf?
Katniss is rendered deaf in one ear after she blows up the Careers' supplies, and she doesn't regain any hearing on her left side until afterwards when the Capitol gives her a hearing aid.

Played by Megan Hayes. The tribute, referred to as a Morphling (Megan Hayes), lunged herself at a vicious monkey mutation to protect Peeta from the attack. The unnamed character's unexpected sacrifice was the first hint at a bigger plan at play during the 75th Hunger Games.
The female Morphling, however, appears almost coincidentally, and Peeta even mentions that they don't know her real name. Given that she is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice to protect Peeta, it's safe to assume that the Morphling was committed to the rebel cause.
As she approaches him, Peeta wraps his hands around her neck and throws Katniss around the room. He begins to strangle her, nearly killing her. He is wild, unable to be stopped, at least until Boggs knocks him out with a metal tray.
What does he mean by this? It means that during the arena, during his killing spree, he realizes that there's more to life than killing, and he's just a pawn in the whole scheme of things. He realizes that he's a cruel person the capitol created, and he wouldn't mind dying because he wasn't alive on the inside anyways.
Katniss here's this and understands that even though she may not love Peeta (then) that it's one less person who has to die. (At least that's what I have always thought.) Katniss realizes that if she pretends to be in love with Peeta people will want the capitol to let them survive.
He has betrayed her and is betraying all of District 12 by buddying up with the Careers, whom she calls the "Capitol's lapdogs." She decides that if the Careers don't kill him, she'd be more than happy to. Then, she wonders why Peeta hasn't told them about her bow and arrow skills yet.
