The god of stories has the power to communicate with Those Who Sit Above in Shadow, who are basically the Gods of the gods. What is Loki's strength in God of Stories?
Loki becomes the most powerful being in the MCU, not in terms of physical strength, but in his ability to control time and rewrite destiny. Through his journey of self-discovery, Loki realizes the importance of free will and makes the ultimate sacrifice to protect reality.
By this point in the comic books, Loki has already proven himself more hero than villain and gained the ability to perceive, manipulate, and even rewrite narratives and stories. This meant he could influence the world around him, shaping his and every other story being told.
He then battled the combined forces of the West Coast and East Coast Avengers. His identity and role in the proceedings was ultimately revealed, and he was then defeated by the Avengers. Loki would actually die at the hands of Thor, although manipulation of the time stream would later bring him back.
Avengers #65 revealed that Avenger Prime, aka a Loki variant, is more powerful than any of Marvel's major supervillains combined. Also titled "The Secret History of Avenger Prime," Avengers #65 details how this Loki variant became the most powerful entity in his universe.
