Created by editor and plotter Stan Lee, scripter Don Rico, and artist Don Heck, the character debuted in Tales of Suspense #52 (April 1964). The character was introduced as a Russian spy, an antagonist of the superhero Iron Man.
Orphaned as a child, she was rescued during an attack on Stalingrad by a man named Ivan Petrovitch Bezukhov, who looked after and trained the girl. As she grew older, Natasha's talents caught the attention of Soviet Intelligence, soon to be known as the KGB, and was recruited into their ranks.

Yelena Belova appears in media set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, portrayed by Florence Pugh. This version is a sister to Natasha Romanoff and was trained to be a Black Widow alongside her in the Red Room. Pugh first appears in the live-action film Black Widow (2021).
She was forcibly sterilized in the Red Room and can never have children. The criticism of Black Widow's arc was severe, particularly her infantilizing relationship with the Hulk.

Weaknesses. Brainwashing: During her time as a spy for the Red Room, they mentally programmed her with certain mental commands, which can bring her under control, should she ever turn rogue. This was used by Nighthawk to put Black Widow into a comatose state.
Although Joss Whedon stated in an interview 18 months after the film's release that the former was his intent, it still reads as if Black Widow is calling herself a monster because she was sterilized and is equating it to the literal monster that the Hulk is.

Once a male black widow spider has fertilized a female, she will lay sacks full of eggs in her spider nest. She can lay up to five sacks that are each filled with 200 eggs. Within two weeks, the eggs will begin to hatch, and up to 1,000 black widow spider babies will emerge.
Yelena Belova discovers that Clint Barton was the one who was with Natasha Romanoff when she sacrificed herself on Vormir to obtain the Soul Stone. Yelena learns about this from Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, also known as Val, who provides her with this information.
Natasha chose to be the sacrifice and so, Romanoff was 39 years old when she died, but the time travel in Avengers: Endgame creates a little bit of a complication. Romanoff and Barton used the Quantum Realm to journey back to 2014 so they could beat Thanos (Josh Brolin) to the Soul Stone by 4 years.
