In the series finale, "Endgame", a future Admiral Janeway tries to bring Voyager back to Earth using a Borg transwarp hub. During this episode, she infects the Borg with a neurolytic pathogen which infects the collective and kills the Queen.
The alternate Janeway infected herself with a neurolytic pathogen and then allowed herself to be assimilated; the pathogen infected the entire Borg collective, dealing them a devastating blow they'd still not recovered from decades later.
Towards the end of the year 2377, the USS Voyager under the command of Captain Kathryn Janeway, with the aid of Admiral Kathryn Janeway from the future, destroyed the Borg Collective's Transwarp Hub and also infected Unimatrix One with a virus that killed the Borg Queen and severely damaged the Unicomplex.
With all hope seemingly lost, Doctor Crusher (Gates McFadden) and Data (Brent Spiner) were able to turn the tables on the Borg Collective by using the assimilated Picard against the Collective. Data used Picard's access to the hive mind to access a regeneration sub-routine, putting the Borg to sleep.
The Borg cube was stopped when it was ordered to enter its regeneration cycle. This was done by Data, who connected himself to Locutus and ordered the regeneration command, effectively putting all the drones to sleep. The command also started a self-destruct mechanism which destroyed the cube.

The Borg, while still a powerful threat, are nothing compared to this type of power. The Q are not only able to defeat their entire race without breaking a sweat, but can also eradicate any trace of their existence altogether.
However, Picard is able to break Jack out of the Borg Queen's control while the Enterprise destroys the Borg Cube and with it, the Borg Queen and all of the remaining Borg drones.
Jack suffered from terrifying visions and hearing voices as a child, but it was Beverly who ultimately determined that her son was born with organic Borg DNA he inherited from Jean-Luc from his time as Locutus of Borg.
The pathogen completely decimated the Borg Queen and left the entire Collective in ruins, and while Picard and the crew of the USS Enterprise-D dealt the final killing blow, it was Janeway who originally crippled the Collective permanently.
Jack Crusher was a pivotal character in Star Trek: Picard season 3. The son of Jean-Luc Picard and Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) was revealed to be the linchpin of the Borg Queen's (Alice Krige) plot to assimilate Starfleet, evolve the Borg, and exact revenge on the United Federation of Planets.
The "Good Borg", Jurati's Borg, were established in the Alpha Quadrant in the 21st century, when the queen from the alternate timeline and Jurati merged. The Borg that are assimilating the fleet in Picard season 3 are the "Bad Borg", not Jurati's Borg.
Although any further details would be purely speculative, it fits with the established canon and timeline that the ancient Romulans could've started experimenting with artificial life forms, accidentally created the Borg and realized the terror their experiments had given rise to.
Summary. Admiral Janeway cameo considered for Picard Season 3, but showrunner Terry Matalas feared it would overshadow Seven of Nine's story. Seven of Nine's journey in Picard Season 3 was one of the best story arcs, starting as First Officer and ending as Captain of the Enterprise-G.

The borg collective as a whole didn't join the federation it was just a small splinter group of the borg that joined the federation the main borg collective is still an enemy of the federation and would mostly likely never join the federation instead would keep on trying to assimilate the federation.
