Because of some of the content I wouldn't recommend the movie for younger children, but teens and upwards would get a kick out of the sweet romance. Otherwise, this is a great family movie for those of y'all who have older kids.
Does 13 Going on 30 have any inappropriate scenes?
There is some cussing, but not much, and a few light profanities. There is a scene where a man is naked except for a towel around his waist. Only nudity shown is his torso.
The plot is obviously similar to the movie Big and all the critics have already bothered to point that out. While 13 Going on 30 isn't as good or engaging as Big, it's still a decent film with a nice message. The movie works a lot better than it should because of Jennifer Garner.
However, the topics in this show should be seen by 11+ children, for it gives them a (for parents) safe glipmse of the teenyears that are ahead of them.
Positive messages abound. Young moviegoers will see that being good is more important than being popular. That friendship and loyalty trumps power and prestige. And that the choices you make and the friends you keep go a long way toward shaping who you become.
