A great cast squandered on a poor political drama and mediocre direction. It manages to take on Italian politics from 1900 to post WW2. The poor dialogue that didn't translate well was also undermined by the poor dubbing. It was tedious despite some good memorable scenes and contrived situations / cinematography.
