After not appearing in any of the Karate Kid sequels, Ali Mills was mentioned during Seasons 1 and 2 of Cobra Kai, but she didn't make an official appearance until Season 3 for a two-episode arc.
But the lovey-dovey couple broke up on prom night, as Daniel relayed to Mr. Miyagi in The Karate Kid Part II. Daniel explained in his periwinkle tuxedo that Ali not only crashed the car Mr. Miyagi gave him but also cheated on him with a UCLA football player.
Since then, it was revealed that the producers behind the martial arts franchise elected to keep Ali out of the sequels as they hoped to turn Macchio's Daniel LaRusso into a James Bond-type character, giving him new love interests and sending him to new locations.

Johnny has been in most installments in the Karate Kid franchise (including Cobra Kai), but wasn't in the third movie, which saw Kreese (Martin Kove) try to take revenge on Daniel by training a new opponent for him to fight. Johnny wasn't involved because his story had already been told in the first film.

Karate Kid Part III's bad boy Mike Barnes has officially entered the Cobra Kai chat this season — and you can bet there will be no mercy. In the 1989 film, Mike Barnes, played by Sean Kanan, was hired by Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) to defeat Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) at the All-Valley Tournament.
After Robyn Lively was cast as Jessica Andrews in The Karate Kid Part III in 1988, producers were forced to modify her role of protagonist Daniel LaRusso's new love interest because Lively was only 16 at the time of filming and still a minor, while Ralph Macchio was 27 (although his character Daniel is 17).

Kreese instructs his second-best student, Bobby, one of his more compassionate students and the least vicious of Daniel's tormentors, to disable Daniel with an illegal attack to the knee. Bobby reluctantly does so, severely injuring Daniel and getting himself disqualified.

In the All-Valley Tournament, it was Daniel LaRusso who famously won by beating Johnny Lawrence. However, that wasn't the only competition that Daniel won. In The Karate Kid III, he went up against Mike Barnes in the All-Valley Tournament and took first place trophy home once more.
