Ali Baba is a completely different story from Aladdin. And the original is actually Ali Babwa. The story of Ali Babwa is actually a couple shorter stories put together. A poor man, who discovers rhe den of the 40 thieves, and sees their leader open it with the famous "Open Sesame".

The moral of this story is that “we should never bow down to greed.” In this story, it was greed and jealousy that led to the death of Ali Baba's brother. The story also teaches us to be brave in the face of adversity, like Ali Baba's maid, who was brave to fight the thieves and also save Ali Baba's life.
The original Aladdin story was actually set in China. Aladdin is one of the stories compiled in The Thousand and One Nights — a collection of Middle Eastern and Indian folk tales, however, it did not appear in the original Arabic text.
