General Skywalker made the decision to divide the 501st to respond to both threats, promoting Captain Rex to serve as the Clone Commander of a new division, the 332nd Division. Appo remained in the previous force of the 501st, returning with that part of the legion to Coruscant.
With his superior officer Commander Cody, Rex also helped uncover a traitor within the clone ranks. The triumph on Christophsis gave Rex little time to rest.
He worked closely alongside Commander Cody, forming a friendship over the years as they each supported their Jedi generals, Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. But even though Commander Cody technically outranked Captain Rex, it was often Rex who naturally took the lead.

Clones like Rex, Kix, Gregor, and ARC Troopers removed inhibitor chips and preserved their free will post-Order 66. The Bad Batch, Alpha-Class ARCs, and Cut Lawquane defied Order 66 due to immunity, free-thinking, or lack of contact.
As such, a Marshal Commander was roughly equivalent to a Major General or Lieutenant General in other services; it was also the highest rank a clone could be given in the Grand Army of the Republic.

SOME of these Clones include; Captain Rex: Captain Rex, as most know removed his chip that would later be the way that Palpatine would execute order 66. Rex and Ahsoka are very close friends, having met each other at the battle of Christophsis after she was assigned as Anakin's apprentice. He took an immediate liking towards her and later congratulated her when she helped Anakin destroy the Separatists' shield generator.
Rex is often mistakenly refered to as "CT-7567", yet "CT" means, "Clone Trainee" for the Clone Cadets, while "CC" means, "Clone Code" for every other Clone Trooper. The scar under his chin and his character personality is modeled after Han Solo, who was also an officer under the rank of Captain.
The “Ahsoka” series is expected to be set around the same time as “The Mandalorian” – almost eight years after the events of “Return of the Jedi,” by which time the Rex character will be a chronological age of 44 and a biological age/appearance of a man well into his 80s (Morrison is 62).
