The film is simply similar to any mystery movie based on the works of Agatha Christie. Even Daniel Craig's character Benoit Blanc is a low copy of Hercule Poirot.
Let's get something straight: When director Rian Johnson created Benoit Blanc, he was always thinking of Poirot. This is something the director himself has stated. However, when creating the character, he did realize, quite early on, that he wasn't making anything new. The character was simply Poirot.

Throughout his 25-year tenure as the detective, Suchet managed to consistently bring to life all of Poirot eccentricities, right down to the physicalities and movement of the character — as, notably, Suchet managed to perfect Poirot's distinct walk.

Early Years. Very little is known about Blanc's history. He comes from the southern United States, and his father worked as a detective, but has since retired.
Continuing with the running theme, “Glass Onion” only takes loose inspiration from Christie's novels such as “And Then There Were None” & “Evil Under the Sun” — which also featured people on an exotic island.
The series took place over 25 years and it is amazing that Suchet was able to film all the Poirot short stories and novels, barring one very short story, The 'Lemesurier Inheritance'.
The real reason Poirot sports a mustache — per Death on the Nile's prologue — is to cover up a war injury. He received quite a few facial lacerations after he was caught in an explosion that occurred on the front lines during World War I.
By 1930, Agatha Christie found Poirot "insufferable", and by 1960 she felt that he was a "detestable, bombastic, tiresome, ego-centric little creep". Despite this, Poirot remained an exceedingly popular character with the general public.

Katherine, Hercule Poirot's first wife and great love, haunts him throughout A Haunting in Venice, impacting his relationships and beliefs. Katherine died in a train accident while on her way to visit Poirot in the hospital, leaving him closed off from love and full of guilt.
Japp's career in the Poirot novels extends into the 1930s but, like Hastings, he disappeared from Christie's writing thereafter. A police officer somewhat similar in character (Superintendent Spence) was introduced as a significant recurring character in the later Poirot novels.
The Jarché family was originally named Jarchy, and were Russian Jews. Suchet's paternal grandfather, Isidor Shokhet, was a Lithuanian Jew and lived in Kretinga, a Lithuanian city in the Pale of Settlement of the Russian Empire.
Apart from the odd words in French, we rarely hear Poirot speak this language. But I must say that David Suchet's French, as someone who does speak French, is impeccable in this episode, especially when he has the conversation with Madame Giselle's maid.
