Parents need to know that Broad Peak is a Polish drama about real-life mountain climber Maciej Berbeka and the first Polish mountain climbing team to reach the summit of Broad Peak in the winter. In 1988, Berbeka first attempted this feat, only to fall short by 17 meters.
The two went missing on their way back down. The body of Tomasz Kowalski, 27, was found and buried near the peak. The body of Maciej Berbeka, 58, has not been found.

Broad Peak is a Himalayan mountain on the border of Pakistan and China, the 12th highest mountain in the world at 8,047 metres (26,401 ft) above sea level. It was first ascended in June 1957 by Fritz Wintersteller, Marcus Schmuck, Kurt Diemberger, and Hermann Buhl on an Austrian expedition.

Leszek Dawid: We shot the film there, in the Karakoram, as well as on K2 and in the Broad Peak region, both on the glacier beneath Broad Peak and on the mountain itself. The crew was working with a camera and other equipment above the base camp, while the climbers were as high as Camp 3.
