Carnage is a supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, usually as an adversary of Spider-Man and the archenemy of Venom, in particular the Eddie Brock incarnation of the character, although Carnage and Venom would join forces if their goals aligned.
Venom stops evil, but he can still be a monstrous man-eater. The symbiote has a longer villainous history in the comics, but its anti-heroic stance still stands. Carnage, on the other hand, is a villain through and through.
What Makes Him Pure Evil? He was cruel and destructive from the moment he was born, sadistically killing humans for fun rather than sustenance, and wanting to be the only symbiote on Earth due to his hatred towards his own father Venom. He bonded with Cletus Kasady to escape execution.
If Venom and Eddie Brock are motivated by jealousy of Spider-Man and thus permitted to be complex characters who edge closer to anti-hero status, Carnage is pure villain. A serial killer whose ties to Eddie are faint; Cletus Kasady was merely Eddie's cellmate when Cletus bonded with Venom's symbiote spawn.
Carnage only felt disgust and hatred towards his new spawn, even before he "gave birth", both fearing that it might be much stronger than himself, and generally disgusted with the idea of giving birth (reflecting the attitudes of the Carnage's host, Cletus Kasady).
By eating Carnage, Venom is effectively returning his spawn back to his former "unborn" state within Venom's mass, not taking anything he didn't already have into his cells.
Carnage is a sentient being of pure evil, shown by how moments after the symbiote was born it wreaked havoc in Prison during its escape. Carnage also has a deep hatred for its father, Venom, wanting to kill him so that he could be the only symbiote on the planet and thus unstoppable.
Originating as an offspring of Venom, Carnage is much more powerful than its parent symbiote because of the symbiotes' biology, and is in many ways a darker version of him.
In addition, Venom has come out on top as the victor in many battles with Symbiotes like Carnage, Hybrid, and Scream (all of which are arguably more powerful than he is).
While coming close to killing Spider-Man numerous times in battles since their initial encounter, Venom also began to act as an antihero of sorts, hunting down and often killing people it believed to be guilty, while attempting to protect those in danger.
Spider-Man defeated Carnage only after Bentine tricked the creature into returning to human form, rendering Kasady vulnerable to a simple knockout punch.
The only thing that didn't match up was his bond with Carnage. In the comics they are the perfect symbiotic relationship, referring to themselves as “me” or “I” instead of “us” and “we” like the rest do. However, for the sake of the film it did make sense for them to be individuals.
Cosmic Spider-Man is undoubtedly the most powerful variation of the character. In the Acts of Vengeance storyline, Peter absorbs a mysterious power known as the Enigma Force.
Disgraced and suicidal with a growing irrational hatred for Spider-Man, Brock comes into contact with an alien symbiote, rejected by Peter Parker. The symbiote bonds with him and they become Venom, together seeking out revenge against their mutual enemy.
Perhaps the Marvel Universe's deadliest symbiote, Carnage debuted in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (1963) #345. Shortly after spawning from Venom, the Carnage symbiote bonded to a serial killer named Cletus Kasady.
Having a physical weapon is different than simply using powers. That poses the question of can Venom create weapons the same way he can clothing or limbs? The answer is yes. When Venom bonded with both Flash Thompson and Eddie Brock, the symbiote turned their appendages into weapons in the midst of battle.
Toxin is probably the most gruesome-looking of the human-bonded symbiotes, sharing many visual similarities to its father, Carnage. In this instance, however, its bite is actually far more deadly than its bark, with even Knull himself afraid of the raw power that Toxin possesses.
Scream is one of Marvel's Life Foundation symbiotes - a daughter of Venom. She chose a different path from her siblings, going from villain to hero. The Life Foundation symbiotes have returned in Extreme Carnage, including Scream.
Cletus and Carnage's union gets a bit complicated. In the comics, Eddie Brock does a stint in prison and his cellmate is none other than Cletus Kasady. While in prison, Venom produces an offspring named Carnage.
Dylan Brock is the son of Eddie Brock and Anne Weying. When Anne bonded to the Venom symbiote, she somehow became pregnant with Dylan. He was created by the symbiotes in order to destroy their god Knull and sever him from the hive-mind.
During the fight, Mulligan is apparently killed by Barrison, but absorbs a piece of one of the symbiotes, which later revives him and causes his eyes to glow blue.
During the last interview with Brock, Kasady started mocking the reporter by wishing him a heartbreak for uncovering his secrets. Venom wasn't satisfied with his actions and attacked the prisoner, which resulted in Cletus bitting Eddie's hand. Right after the bite, Carnage was born and bonded with its host.
It could be that in the universe of the Venom movies, this type of strong bond is already known among the symbiotes to result in stronger specimens. This could explain why Venom is so fearful of facing an enemy with a ruddy hue.
