The DC Universe may sometimes be seen as outdated or campy, but its heroes and their stories are largely just as dark — if not darker than — Marvel's. DC Comics has long had a reputation for being a more lighthearted, traditional, and "nice" universe of superheroes and supervillains.
Darkseid (pronounced "Darkside") is a fictional supervillain appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. Created by writer-artist Jack Kirby, the character made a cameo appearance in Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #134 (Dec. 1970) before making his full first appearance in Forever People #1 (Feb. 1971).
But the mech version of Superman has a grudge against Darkseid right from the very beginning. Instead of wanting to protect Earth for the sake of saving his adopted home world, this version of Superman wants to take on Darkseid in order to avenge his original home world of Krypton.
Superman doesn't beat Darkseid because of how powerful he is; while that helps him survive the fight, Darkseid still outclasses Superman. Superman has learned to use his brains in battle against Darkseid, allowing him to win his battles against the dark god.
While Superman's reputation as DC's strongest hero is important to the themes that make him work, Darkseid isn't just more powerful, he's a higher level of being.
For those who don't know: Darkseid is the character that led to the creation of Thanos, making the former the original figure of warlord dominance in comic books. Despite having racked up reputable feats and prowess for himself, Thanos is still not at the level of Darkseid.
As mentioned before, there were two heroes responsible for Darkseid's demise, and the other was none other than Green Arrow. While it was the Atom who destroyed Darkseid's brain, it was Oliver Queen's expert archery skills that allowed Ray to be shot into Darkseid's head to begin with.

Darkseid is definitely stronger than Hulk at a base level, but as the fight goes on, Hulk gets more powerful and he would eventually defeat the God of Evil.
In various DC Comics and many other adaptations, Superman has fought Darkseid in one-on-one fights and defeated him, making him one of Earth's greatest defenders against the Apokoliptian despot.
The two have clashed multiple times in the comics, but there have been a few instances where Superman has killed The Dark Knight. One such event occurred when Poison Ivy took over Superman, and in a fit of rage, used him to punch Batman dead, although she resurrected him.
He has superhuman speed and strength, and once fought Zeus to a standstill. Thor would certainly be thwarted by Darkseid. This fearsome villain would be able to drain the lifeforce from him, and even his godly weaponry doesn't seem like it could withstand Darkseid's Omega Beams.
Cosmic Ghost Rider will still put up a good fight but it would be futile; none of his powers would be able to affect Darkseid. Sure, he can blast him or punch him but that's not going to do much against a god.
But then how did Odin beat Darkseid? WIZ: Odin tore the 4th world, the home of the gods, out of the divine sphere, thus Darkseid was no longer a higher dimensional being, just one god in one universe. This made it possible for Odin to kill Darkseid.
With power levels possibly even far above Superman's, including almost incalculable strength and an enigmatic power known as the 'Omega Effect,' Darkseid is one of Superman's most powerful and recognizable foes.
Can Superman overpower Thanos in raw strength? Yes, actually. Thanos is a powerhouse, but Raw Strength is not his best suit. He mostly relies on his powerful energy beams and lasers, not to mention his immense IQ or mind abilities.
