Finding Nemo is a CGI animated film series and Disney media franchise that began with the 2003 film of the same name, produced by Pixar and released by Walt Disney Pictures. The original film was followed by a sequel, Finding Dory, released in 2016.
It mainly came down to the originality aspect that brought us to the conclusion that Finding Nemo is the superior film. Finding Dory might have done better had it been about a different character or a separate setting, but it had too many elements that were already covered by the first installment.

I'd seen it enough times (and watched the musical at Disney World last month) so I felt ready to go as well, though watching Finding Nemo beforehand isn't needed to understand the second movie, I'd suggest it if it's been a while, just to understand more of the humor.
Nemo. Dory has a motherly relationship with Nemo. When the two met, she was relieved to find someone with kindness, and offered to help him look for his father, although she didn't remember she was looking for him too.

Who is Dory in love with?
The companionship that emerges is completely genuine. Nonetheless, Dory and Marlin's relationship is a complicated and interesting one. Some view Dory as Marlin's companion and speculate that the two are actually lovers.
Many of the characters' humorous idiosyncrasies could be called "abnormalities." Dory (Ellen DeGeneres), a lively blue tang who becomes Marlin's sidekick on the quest for Nemo's rescue, has chronic short-term memory loss.
How many years between Finding Nemo and Finding Dory?
Roughly 13 years passed between Finding Nemo and last summer's box-office smash Finding Dory, but Disney/Pixar fans won't have to wait nearly that long to see what comes next from the studio.
Dory is the third female protagonist in a Pixar film, the first two being Merida and Joy. She is also Pixar's third titular character, the first two being Nemo and WALL-E, and the second titular character to be a protagonist overall, the first one being WALL-E. She is also Pixar's first female titular character.
However, some scenes may scare kids, which is why I recommended it for 6+. But if you edit out just the right scenes, it's appropriate for as young as 2 years of age. That being said, there are some young kids I personally know that were traumatized by this movie, so watch out if your kids are sensitive viewers.
In a flashback Dory hears her mother crying in fears of being relocated to another aquarium, so she left to retrieve a shell to cheer her up, to which she was pulled away by an undertow current out into the ocean.
Dory suffers from severe short-term memory loss, but a lot of what she goes through can be adapted to other contexts, such as the world, or ocean, of ADHD. Dory has trouble with multi-step directions, is easily distracted, and is very impulsive.
It's quite obvious that Dory has anterograde amnesia, which is the inability to form new memories. I also see many of the signs of ADHD within the character.

Nemo hatches as an undifferentiated hermaphrodite (as all clownfish are born) while his father transforms into a female now that his female mate is dead. Since Nemo is the only other clownfish around, he becomes a male and mates with his father (who is now a female).
It involves a little boy called Nemo, who wears pajamas and travels to a fantasy world, but otherwise the connection to McCay's strip is a loose one. The fantasy world is a dark and dismal beach, and Nemo encounters characters from other works of fiction rather than those from the original strip.

It is entertaining and fun for adults as well as children. The movie does have themes of parental loss and separation and some scary scenes, which younger children might find very frightening. Therefore it isn't recommended for children under 6 years, and we recommend parental guidance for children aged 6-8 years.

Dory's scars from her travel through the jellyfish in Finding Nemo (2003) have disappeared. They may well have healed in the time between the two films.
