Missing explores the theme of technology and its positive role in solving crimes, challenging the notion that too much technology is harmful, instead highlighting its usefulness in tracking and finding missing persons.
Storm Reid is the main lead and she gives a great performance. Her character doesn't have a great relationship with her mother and she isn't exactly being great to her. Despite that, the movie gets you to really root for her because you see her desperation and regret once her mother is missing.
Missing is no horror film, but it is a very well crafted thriller. The performances are spectacular. The grounded reality of the film makes it feel like you are watching these terrifying events play out in real time.
Missing is not a bad film; it's a good film. It's smart, Reid is terrific, the thriller elements are gripping, the twists are surprising, and some of the moments in which June outsmarts people who are trying to cut her off from information she needs are highly satisfying.

Yes, June's deceased father never really died. He tells her Grace took her away from him and has been hiding under a different name all these years. While seemingly his intentions are good, they quickly turn out to be the opposite as Grace ran from him after being abused by him for years.
James then turns up at June's door, kidnapping her and taking her to where he is holding Grace hostage. He shoots and injures Grace but as James is about to leave with June, Grace stabs him with a shard of glass and he dies. Now, Grace and June are free and reunited.
Missing has a very happy ending in which Sarah and June make it back alive after going through hell in the form of James coming back from the past to harm them somehow. June's attitude is much more mature, and her connection with her mother seems to be more solid than ever.
It does contain references to sexual violence and the overall theme of kidnapping the main characters daughter for the use of prostitution. There is lots of violence (sometimes gets graphic, with lots of blood), with use of guns, arrows, knives and more.
