Family/Relationships Ren was the nephew and former padawan of Luke Skywalker before he was seduced by the Dark side by Supreme Leader Snoke. He was the son of Leia Organa and Han Solo and Supreme Leader of the First Order, and the grandson of Padmé Amidala and Anakin Skywalker.
We discover Kylo Ren (birth name: Ben Solo) is actually the son of Leia Organa and Han Solo, meaning Ben is Luke's nephew. Luke trains Ben in the ways of the Jedi, but Ben turns to the Dark Side like his grandfather (Anakin) before him.

Why do Rey and Ben kiss?
The Rise of Skywalker novelization insisted the kiss was not romantic, explaining that it was “a kiss of gratitude, acknowledgment of their connection, celebration that they'd found each other at last”, but when looking at the context and what their connection was like since The Last Jedi, the kiss between Rey and Ben ...
But if Palpatine essentially fathered Anakin through the Force, the Emperor would be the great-grandfather of Kylo Ren and the grandfather of Rey, making the pair first cousins once removed.
But under the influence of the mysterious Snoke, Ben rejected Luke's teachings and destroyed his temple, leaving with several of his uncle's students and killing the rest. A shaken Luke vanished into exile, while Ben assumed a new identity -- Kylo Ren – and found a new master in the First Order's Supreme Leader Snoke.
Finally, Rey is Kylo Ren's aunt through Anakin Skywalker. This means that Kylo and Rey's romance is just as genetically awkward as Luke and Leia's kiss on Hoth was. Granted, neither pair knew they were related at the time, but that's no excuse.

Rey is Anakin's half sister, and Palpatines relations to Rey through the force. Rey is a genetic experiment/force experiment of immaculate conception orchestrated by palpatine. So Rey is Palpatines daughter or grand daughter, in a metaphorical sense. The same way Anakin is Palpatines son through the force.
While Vader was certainly powerful with the Force, Kylo Ren is arguably even stronger, being able to freeze people in their tracks without even needing to focus on them. He can even read people's minds, which is another thing that Vader couldn't do. Even with being weaker with a sword, it's still possible Kylo Ren vs.
Having refounded the Jedi Order and trained several new Jedi including Leia, Luke eventually marries an enemy-turned-ally Mara Jade, and they have a son named Ben, who was voted the 40th top Star Wars character by IGN and the 6th top Star Wars Expanded Universe character by UGO Networks.
Born on the planet Hyperkarn in 15 ABY, Rey Palpatine was the daughter of Dathan and Miramir. What is the age difference between Rey and Kylo Ren?
According to TFA's visual dictionary (and I believe the book adaptation as well), Rey is 19 at the beginning of the ST. Meanwhile, Kylo is around 29 in TFA, according to the Aftermath novel (which is canon).
As further highlighted by Vader and Kylo's redemption stories, it was a lesson that Kylo Ren never fully learned himself, which makes Darth Vader the more powerful user of the Force between the two of them in Star Wars.
So, naturally, his grandson, Kylo Ren (aka Ben Solo), had some huge boots to fill when he debuted in Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015. Everything about Kylo Ren's Sith Lord persona is derivative of his famous forbearer, from the black helmet whose shape implies a pained grimace, to his cape, to his distorted voice.

In the end, Rey takes the name Skywalker to show that she's the author of her future and can erase a past that was only hers by blood. With that in mind, she represented everything the name stood for, as Anakin, Leia and Luke all wanted more from their lives and chased it.
As the grandson of Darth Vader and the granddaughter of Darth Sidious respectively, both Ren and Rey formed a prophesied Force dyad. Due to their innate connection, they were able to communicate with each other across light-years.
