Film and animation In the animated film industry, Audley provided her distinctive voice to Lady Tremaine, Cinderella's cruel stepmother, in the 1950 Disney film Cinderella; and Princess Aurora's wicked fairy nemesis, Maleficent, in Disney's 1959 version of Sleeping Beauty.
Lady Tremaine (also known as the Wicked Stepmother or Cinderella's stepmother) is the main villainess of the franchise. She is based on the original character from the Cinderella fairy tale created by Charles Perrault.

Why did the evil stepmother marry Cinderella's dad?
After ensuring Ella's blessing and approval, he married Lady Tremaine, partly out of a desire to have a second chance at happiness, and partly to give Ella a new family to keep her company.
She was jealous because the girl was so much more beautiful than her own two daughters and has a much sweeter disposition. The girl was always so gentle and kind that it made the stepmother's two daughters seem even more disagreeable than they were, which was disagreeable enough.
In the original Sleeping Beauty (1959), Maleficent is a horned witch-monster who can fly, apparate out of nowhere, shape-shift into a dragon, command the thunderous sky to do her bidding, and, of course, issue death curses at an infant christening she wasn't invited to.
Later, Stefan betrays Maleficent and steals her wings so he could claim that he killed her and become king. After the painful loss of her wings, Maleficent becomes enraged over his treachery, and as her heart of gold turns to stone, she becomes the evilest magical being in the land.
In the first Maleficent movie, Stefan becomes Maleficent's first love, but after she fights against the King's Army the king orders for someone to kill her in order to become the heir to the throne.
Her iconic horns (which Disney artist Marc Davis, who designed Maleficent, says were inspired by the traditional look of the devil, to “frighten everybody half to death”) are present even before Stefan's betrayal.

Cinderella marries the prince and forgives her two stepsisters, then marrying them off to two wealthy noblemen of the court. They all lived happily ever after. The first moral of the story is that beauty is a treasure, but graciousness is priceless. Without it, nothing is possible; with it, one can do anything.
These were the last words that Ella's (Cinder-Ella) mother's shared with her before she dies. Although there were times where it was difficult to do so, Ella honored her mother's wishes.
