Over the course of the next several months, they fall in love, and Merlin reveals the truth about the Grail and how he acquired magic. He expresses a wish to reforge the grail into a sword that can destroy his immortality, so that he can live a normal mortal life with Nimue as his wife.
Here, Merlin survives the reign of Arthur, about the fall of whom he is told by Taliesin. Merlin spends a part of his life as a madman in the woods and marries a woman named Guendoloena (a character inspired by the male Gwenddoleu ap Ceidio).
In almost all versions of Arthurian legend, Nimue is the architect of Merlin's downfall. Nimue is often depicted as an apprentice of Merlin's, along with other familiar sorceresses like Morgan le Fay and Sebile.
With Arthur, Morgana and Pym, Nimue takes an audience with Merlin, revealing him to be her father. Pym cracks up giggling, until she realizes that Nimue is serious. Nimue tells Merlin that he is without shaame to come after what he did. He asks why he would share his memories with her if he really meant to betray her.
He is a legendary figure who serves as an advisor. He is a master of ancient magic and he is loyal to the Fey cause, though many of the Fey revile him due to his seeming allegiance to King Uther Pendragon. Merlin is also revealed to be the biological father to the main character of the series, Nimue.
Guinevere is childless in most stories. The few exceptions of that include Arthur's son named Loholt or Ilinot in Perlesvaus and Parzival (first mentioned in Erec and Enide).
Pelleas /ˈpɛliəs/, or Pellias, is an Arthurian Knight of the Round Table whose story first appears in the Post-Vulgate Cycle. He becomes the husband of Nimue, the Lady of the Lake in Le Morte d'Arthur.
Appearing in the Estoire de Merlin and the Lancelot, she is called both "Viviane" and "Niniane." Here again, Nymue appears as a positive figure, primarily because of her role as Lancelot's foster mother, and this positive characterization carries over into her affair with Merlin.
In this verse play, based largely on the Vita Merlini, Geoffrey's Ganieda is split into two characters, Merlin's sister Gwyndyth and Redderch's queen Langoreth. Their attitudes to Merlin in his madness are contrasted: Gwyndyth patient and comforting, Langoreth exasperated with how well he is being treated.
Merlin is in love with Ninianne and would never do anything to grieve her, but at the same time does desire to have her maidenhead. Ninianne makes a promise to Merlin that she will love him if he teaches her magic, and he quickly agrees to this arrangement.
In Le Morte d'Arthur, on the other hand, Nimue is still the one to trap Merlin, but Malory gives her a sympathetic reason: Merlin falls in love with her and will not leave her alone; Malory gives no indication that Nimue loves him back.
She is variously depicted as the lover of Merlin, the foster mother of Lancelot, and the protector of Arthur, upon whom she bestows the sword Excalibur.
Merlin later makes some tellings of the future, and is allowed back into the forest. Before he leaves, however, he goes to talk to his wife. His wife's name was Gwendoloena, and she lived together with Merlin's sister.
Merlin fell in love with Nimue. He was so in love with her that he was constantly at her side. Nimue accompanied Merlin on a journey so that she might learn his magic. Knowing that Merlin could take her unwillingly, she made him swear that he would use no magic to make her lay with him.
She was friends also with King Uther Pendragon. Uther, desiring a son and heir, realised that Ygraine was incapable of providing one and asked Gaius to approach Nimueh with a request that she use the power over life and death to help his wife get pregnant. She did so, and as a result Arthur was born.
As the story plays out onscreen, a young nun named Sister Iris is desperate to become a Red Paladin and serve the order of God, only to be ridiculed and told that she would have to kill the Wolf-Blood Witch in order to achieve that goal… which she does, effectively shooting arrows at Nimue and seemingly causing her ...
Despite her beauty, Guinevere was flawed; she fell in love with a man other than her husband and never had children. She was devoted to Lancelot (her lover) and her betrayal of her husband created the end of King Arthur's roundtable and the downfall of Camelot.
What is the relationship between Lancelot and Nimue?
Lancelot, in Arthurian legend, was actually raised by the Lady of the Lake, Nimue, after his father died which is why in some literature his name is Lancelot du Lac (which translates to Lancelot of the Lake).
In the episode “Excalibur” we find out she is the reason Arthur's mom conceived him. Arthur is now crowned Prince so he's around 20 years old give or take. Nimueh appears around the same age as Arthur, 25 at best.
In The Winter King episode 4, Merlin tries to kidnap Prince Mordred, but Arthur stops him, suspecting he would harm the child. Nimue, after being assaulted by Gundleus, discovers she is pregnant with his baby, and Merlin believes the Gods willed it.
When Nimue and Merlin meet in the fifth episode, she asks the wizard why her mother instructed her to bring him the sword. By the end, viewers learn that not only did he and her mother have a relationship, but Nimue is actually Merlin's daughter.
