Aimed as a prequel to Disney's 1953 animated classic, Warner Bros. ' “Pan” introduces Peter and Hook before they were the ever dueling rivals of Neverland.
The film is a prequel to the 1904 play Peter Pan; or, the Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up, released in novel form in 1911 as Peter and Wendy, from Scottish author J. M. Barrie, and focuses on the origin story for Peter Pan and Captain Hook.
A big reveal in the movie is that Captain Hook was the original Lost Boy. He was absolutely inseparable from Peter Pan when he was also a child. But the Lost Boy world has rules, and one of those is to forget about the adults and life outside of Neverland.
This is a sequel to Peter Pan. Forty years after Peter's (Robin Williams') last adventure, he leaves Neverland to have a family and work for a lousy annoying company and he forgot his last adventure to Neverland. Not only that, the company makes him miss his son's game and other places where he promises to go.

Age. In The Little White Bird (1902) and Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens (1906), he is seven days old. Although his age is not stated in Barrie's play (1904) or novel (1911), the novel mentions that he still had all his baby teeth. In other ways, the character appears to be about 12–13 years old.

Peter cuts off the pirate captain's hand in a duel (the hand is typically then consumed by a crocodile) and Hook…well… let's just say he isn't thrilled with Peter afterward!

Hook is generally played by Wendy's father, because there is a whole symbolism thing. Wendy is usually either unhappy with her father, or afraid of her father, or has some other issue with her father, and having Hook represent that in Neverland plays into the idea that her adventures with Peter are a dream.
Summary. Peter Pan Syndrome is a popular psychology term to describe people who find it difficult to grow up. They often have challenges managing adult responsibilities and maintaining adult relationships. Having difficulty with adult responsibilities can affect many people.
There is no way that the movie was a dream. While the movie does tease us with the idea that it may have been a dream by having Peter asleep outside when he returns from Neverland and by having Bob Hoskins play the street sweeper it is very clear that it was real based on what follows.
Wendy gives a thimble to Peter and receives a button in return. The two wear the "kisses" around the necks. The kiss exchange signifies the depth of the children's relationship, and it remains special to both Wendy and Peter for many years.
