Sinister 2 brings some things from the first film and unfortunately nothing works well and is not scary. A sequence serves to expand the original, not regressed it. It's more like an 8.5. There were things that we're better in the 1st, and things that were better in this film.

There's a strong, unsettling atmosphere that underlies through the whole film. The demon man is also quite frightening and not too much is explained about him which certainly adds to scare factor.
They have similar themes I guess, and both of them are quite scary. I was more impressed with Insidious at the time, but since then have learned to respect Sinister a lot more. There are some genuine scares however in both films.

This film really needed a PLOT. And characters, some people to root for. Instead, the poor pacing, lack of tension and suspense made for a kind of dull film experience. Yes, Art is a crazy, vicious clown killer.
The gore scenes are so dramatic for no real reason. Its almost like watching a parody of a horror movie except it goes on for too long. The plot makes absolutely NO sense, the acting is horrible, and there is literally no coherent plot. It was an actual job just to finish this movie and could not wait for it to end.
This movie will easily be in my opinion the best slasher film of 2022 and I think Damien Leone did a great job. Although it is highly advised for people who can handle VERY graphic kills, I enjoyed it a lot. Compared to the first, this movie turned gore up to 11 and the film effects were a lot better.
Unlike most movies, this film incorporates lighting, audio, and special effects to help make the story immersive and scary yet so enjoyable. While I would not recommend this film to those under 17, this movie is a must for those that enjoy these horrific thrills.
