As of January 1, 2024, the six TOS-era Star Trek movies (The Motion Picture, The Wrath of Khan, The Search for Spock, The Voyage Home, The Final Frontier, and The Undiscovered Country) and four TNG-era movies (Generations, First Contact, Insurrection, and Nemesis) are streaming exclusively on Max in the USA.
The Big Picture. Nickelodeon shows like Blue's Clues & Rugrats are being pulled from Paramount+ due to a new company focus. More series pulled from the streamer include Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Big Nate. Some previously removed content has found a new home on other streaming platforms.
The purge also includes Are You Afraid of the Dark? (2019-2022), Blue's Clues & You! (2019-), It's Pony (2020-2022), Middlemost Post (2021-2022), Ollie's Pack (2020), Ryan's Mystery Playdate (2019-2023), Santiago of the Seas (2020) and the recently cancelled That Girl Lay Lay (2021-2024).
The reason for the cull is because Paramount has decided to change its strategy. In a memo to staff last week, execs explained that the streamer was now focusing on "Hollywood franchises, films and series which have mass global appeal" amid moves to cut costs and improve profitability.
Cultural impact. The Star Trek media franchise is a multibillion-dollar industry, owned by Paramount Global. Gene Roddenberry sold Star Trek to NBC as a classic adventure drama; he pitched the show as "Wagon Train to the Stars" and as Horatio Hornblower in Space.
While on NBC, Star Trek's Nielsen ratings were low and the network canceled it after three seasons and 79 episodes. In the United Kingdom the series was not broadcast until July 12, 1969, coinciding with the Apollo 11 mission to land the first humans on the Moon.
Paramount lost $238 million from its streaming business in the prior quarter (and $424 million in Q2 and a $511 million in Q1), when it gained 2.7 million Paramount+ subs. Now that 2023 is over and 2025 is expected to be profitable, we know that 2022 was the peak year for Paramount streaming losses.
The studio posted a smaller streaming loss of $490 million, against a year-earlier $575 million loss, representing some upbeat news for Wall Street. Having reduced full year direct-to-consumer losses in 2023 had Paramount indicating it hit peak streaming losses in 2022, a year ahead of schedule.

Popular youth shows Rugrats and Blue's Clues are no longer available on Paramount+ due to a shift in content strategy. Despite success in the Kids & Family section, the streaming platform is focusing on content with mass global appeal.

TOS episodes "The Empath," "Whom Gods Destroy," "Plato's Stepchildren," and "Miri" were all banned. Although TNG's "Conspiracy" may be the most well-known episode to have been banned, this kind of censoring wasn't new to Star Trek.
Three Star Trek Series Leaving Netflix | Fandom. I read an article on Daily Star Trek News that Decider.com stated that Star Trek- The Orginal Series, Star Trek- Voyager and Star Trek- Enterprise are leaving Netflix at the end of September.
2024 will see the series finales of not one, but two different distinct Star Trek series. In addition to the swan song of Discovery, it's now been revealed that Lower Decks will have its final season this year, too.
