Missing is no horror film, but it is a very well crafted thriller. The performances are spectacular. The grounded reality of the film makes it feel like you are watching these terrifying events play out in real time. There's a large debate between thriller and horror films, but it doesn't matter.
Despite its lifelike premise and innovative use of modern technologies in its storytelling, Missing is not based on a true story. The film and its plot are completely fictional works that were conceptualized and written by Sev Ohanian and Aneesh Chaganty.
One year later, Grace has survived her gunshot wound, and June is in college. Their story has been adapted on the true crime show Unfiction, and Grace has started a friendship with Javier after June introduced them.
The Missing movie ending explained the discovery that June's presumably dead father, James (Tim Griffin), is behind the scheme to kidnap Grace in a bid to get his daughter back, which involved using Kevin to con Grace Allen into going on vacation.
The movie opens with archival video footage of 10-year-old June (Storm Reid) with her now-deceased father James. We learn that he died from a brain tumor shortly after the video was taken.

Overall it's fine. I like this style of movie and it never gets dark. It's just fine. But I would only recommend it if you watch a lot of movies and have time for this too.
