The USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-G), also known as the Enterprise-G or just the Enterprise, was a Federation Noble-class starship that was in service with Starfleet in the early 25th century. It served as the flagship of Starfleet from the time that it was first commissioned in 2410 until its destruction in 2417.

The obvious in-universe reason for this is because it was previously the Titan, a Neo-Constitution-class starship, designed, like Kirk's Enterprise, to be a deep-space research vessel first. And so, by making the new Enterprise-G smaller than the D or the F, the hypothetical future of Trek is going back to its roots.

Is there an Enterprise H?
The Enterprise-H was originally the USS Endurance (NX-90000). After the loss of the USS Enterprise-G, the Endurance was renamed Enterprise. The Enterprise-H was launched in 2420 as a replacement for the Constitution III-class USS Enterprise-G, which had been taken by Separatist forces some months earlier.
The ship was originally commanded by Jean-Luc Picard, but was given over to William T. Riker after Picard's promotion to admiral. Among Riker's crew were Geordi La Forge, Deanna Troi, Tom Paris, and B'Elanna Torres. The Enterprise-F was lost with all hands in a horrific battle that saw the destruction of Earth.
The short story "Unexpected Honor", written for issue 40 of Star Trek Magazine in May 2012, revealed that the Enterprise-E was destroyed in an ambush by the Undine at Starbase 236 (β) in 2408; among the survivors was Captain Data, who retired from Starfleet to take up teaching on Earth.
NCC is the Starfleet abbreviation for "Naval Construction Contract", comparable to what the U.S. Navy would call a hull number. Jefferies rejected 3, 6, 8, and 9 as "too easily confused" on screen; he eventually reasoned the Enterprise was the first vessel of Starfleet's 17th starship design, hence 1701.
The Enterprise-Z was in service by the 2370s decade. Benefitting from an alliance with the Borg Collective, the ship was equipped with Borg technology. The crew wore Starfleet uniforms reminiscent of the "monster maroons", with the Starfleet arrowhead insignia appearing upside down.
The USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-K) was a Mollis-class starship and the other warship to bear the name Enterprise besides the [D ] in an alternate timeline (TNG: "Yesterday's Enterprise" ). It was also the prototype vessel for the Mollis-class.
Ultimately though, Star Trek: Picard season 3 brought the story of the USS Enterprise-D to a satisfying close, and it should only be brought out of storage again if the universe is truly in trouble.
UPN canceled Star Trek: Enterprise due to low ratings and a lack of network support for the series. Enterprise season 4 involved a creative shift with Manny Coto taking over as showrunner, but it couldn't save the series from cancelation.
Even the sequel series Star Trek: Picard, which has kept the titular Captain away from the ship he commanded for seven seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation and four feature films, will feature the Enterprise-F in its third and final season.
Sisko later heard that Worf's Klingon problems and his thirst for vengeance against the Klingon Empire did indeed lead to the destruction of the - thankfully empty - freighter.
