Best entry to the series for the youngest viewers In the first one, you have a kid blowing up toys and some very scary mutilated toys at Sid's house. This one has none of that, and requires no knowledge of the first to enjoy. My sensitive kid has been enjoying this movie since she was 2 or 3.
There's very little in the way of love and compassion, and LOTS in the way of 90's cynicism. Avoid this one for pre-elementary kids, and wait until they're older if you feel like you need to watch. Recommended alternative: "Monsters, Inc." -- a much sweeter story with good-hearted characters and a positive message.
