Megamind has returned with a sequel without Will Ferrell in the role, and the reason for that has been revealed. Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate director and writers explained why Will Ferrell has been recast in the second installment.

Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate features an entirely different voice cast, with Will Ferrell replaced by Keith Ferguson. The creators of the film explained the recasting was due to scheduling and the ability to find fresh talent to expand the characters' relationships.
