While many claim that Blade Runner's climactic speech was improvised by Hauer on-set, this is not, in fact, the whole story. The majority of the monologue was pre-written by David Peoples. Peoples' version of Blade Runner's "Tears in Rain" speech runs longer than Hauer's 42-word soliloquy.
In his autobiography, Hauer said he merely cut the original scripted speech by several lines, adding only, "All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain".

Personification: It is the attribution of human characteristics to non-human things. In the poem, melancholy darkness weeps in rainy tears. Melancholy and tears are specific to humans but are attributed to the darkness.
