It is a franchise that many of the generation of Nintendo and VHS saw the sequels before the first film. Upon viewing the original Friday the 13th, xennials were shocked to find that Jason is not the killer. It is his mother, Pamela Voorhees.
Pamela Voorhees is the overarching antagonist of the Friday the 13th franchise. She was known simply as Mrs. Voorhees, the mother of Jason Voorhees, who drowned to death as a child, which drove her to murder those who she deemed responsible.
Pamela's grave briefly appears in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984), revealing that her body was eventually found in Jason's cabin after he abandoned it, and laid to rest in a run down, roadside cemetery. Pamela's final appearance in the original series is in Freddy vs.
Stay with me on this, but what if Jason was the killer in the first Friday the 13th? Horror film connoisseurs will be quick to point out that (SPOILER ALERT) it was, in fact, Jason's mother, Mrs. Vorhees, who was the original killer.
In Friday the 13th: Pamela's Tale, Elias is described as an abusive miner who routinely assaulted Pamela. After learning that she was pregnant with Jason, he beat her even more, and she finally retaliated by cutting him to pieces with an axe and disposing of the remains in Camp Crystal Lake.

Why did Jason's mother send him away?
The early story
In despair over Aeson's situation, his wife Alcimede died, but before she had already secretly given birth to the son of Aeson, named Jason. Fearing Pelias would also kill the boy, Jason was sent away to Mount Pelion, to live with the Centaur Cheiron, a strange creature half-man half-horse.
To start with, Jason had a royal birth — he was the son of King Aeson, who ruled Iolcus, a region in Northern Greece. However, a royal birth did not come with safety and stability. When Jason was a newborn, his half-brother called Pelias decided to make a play for the throne.
Jason was born with hydrocephalus and mental disabilities, and in order to hide his deformed face, he covered it all the time before adopting the hockey mask he's well-known for now.
Summary. Both Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees are undeniably evil, but not for the same reasons. Jason Voorhees is a tragic monster driven by revenge, while Michael Myers is motivated by innate evil. Jason Voorhees is governed by his love for his mother, while Michael Myers shows no regard for family bonds.
Many members of the franchise's production team denied that the original Friday the 13th was based on a true story, but a 1960 massacre in Finland shares eerily similar details to the movies.
Once again, the kills in the first film and A New Beginning don't count because it wasn't Jason doing the killing. So while 163 is our total from this list, a few of the murders are up for debate.
In Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday, a new branch of the family tree is introduced through Diana Kimble. Diana is Jason's half-sister, having been born from an affair between Jason's father and an unknown woman.
She stated, "[Jason] was a deformed child who almost drowned and then spent the rest of his childhood growing up alone in the woods. He saw his mother get murdered by a camp counselor in the first Friday the 13th, and so now he exacts his revenge on anyone who returns to Camp Crystal Lake.
Usually saved until the climactic final act, Jason's face is revealed, and over the course of eleven movies, each unmasked Jason is unique to each film.
Trauma. Jason was rendered mute after barely surviving his near drowning at the age of 11. He was slightly mentally challenged before then and the fact that he was abused by the other campers made it worse.
In the end, his left, normal eye is destroyed by Tommy when he slams a machete into the side of his head, and would be absent from future sequels until Jason X.
In fact, Manfredini has revealed in multiple interviews that he composed the now infamous whispers by slashing the words “kill” and “mommy” into two syllables — ki ki ki, ma ma ma — and repeating them into an Echoplex machine.
As an adult, he never speaks, though perhaps this is because we've never witnessed interactions with someone he trusts. The reason it's a “maybe” check is because selective mutism can also be a response to trauma, which Jason most certainly experienced after witnessing the death of his mother.
Like Pamela, Jason heard her voice in his head, compelling him to continue killing even when he may have grown tired of it. But rather than speaking in her voice, as Pamela had, Jason simply heard what he believed to be her spirit.
Eventually though, Jason grew tired of living with a barbarian witch who brought him no social standing, and Creon offered his daughter, named either Glauce or Creusa, in marriage to the hero. Jason divorced Medea and married the princess. Medea was devastated and most of all angry at the betrayal.
Presented with the tasks, Jason became discouraged and fell into depression. However, Hera had persuaded Aphrodite to convince her son Eros to make Aeetes' daughter, Medea, fall in love with Jason.
Aeson was the son of the Cretheus, who ruled that city. But, when the king died, Pelias imprisoned Aeson and took over the kingdom. In a bid to keep him safe, Aeson's son Jason was sent away to be brought up by Chiron, the centaur.
