He screams in pain and horror after Qui-Gon is fatally stabbed, and he comes after Maul with extreme aggression. Obi-Wan forgets all about his traditional Star Wars lightsaber form, becoming much more direct and aggressive. The Jedi Padawan is no vision of serenity, but rather fights out of anger and grief.
When he dies in Rebels you see Obi-wan holding the dying body of Maul. This is supposed to represent that he's gone beyond hatred or anger towards Maul, and instead feel pity that it had to end this way.
You can also see how much Qui Gon Jinn's death affected Dooku when he was talking to Obi Wan in AOTC. Look at the raw, pure emotion Dooku feels over a decade after Qui-Gon died. It affected him significantly.

Because Maul punched him with the hilt of his saber and then stabs him faster than Qui-Gon can pull back his blade. So Qui-Gon lost because Maul was physically stronger and quicker than him. Qui-Gon is skilled but not a prodigy. And he's quickly worn down by Maul in both their encounters.
He had killed his master, Qui-Gon Jinn, for which Obi-Wan got his revenge by slicing the Sith in half. But after Maul took yet another person away from him, Obi-Wan absolutely hated Maul. The Jedi Master almost let his rage and anger get the best of him, growing close to the dark side before he rejected it.
He was after Obi-Wan for a long time but realizes that Palpatine was the cause of his problems. Maul was blinded by his hate for Kenobi to realize Palpatine was his biggest threat all along. The true answer is himself.
