After the destruction of the Death Star, Darth Vader became obsessed with finding Luke Skywalker. He had dispatched probe droids across the galaxy, finally locating the Rebel base on the remote ice planet Hoth. Upon his arrival the Rebels had already escaped, but he pursued Luke's friends with relentless fervor.
Darth Vader's obsession with Luke Skywalker in The Empire Strikes Back is seemingly due to the latter's destruction of the Death Star battle station, but his revelation to Luke and brief dialogue with Emperor Palpatine recontextualizes his pursuit.
Sure. Obviously he did, otherwise he wouldn't have saved him. Vader had still a good portion of Anakin inside of him Luke sensed it and Padme who is not Jedi felt it. Luke being alive renewed the hope of Vader he gave up any chance to rebel against Papaltine but his son did that.
Did Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader love Luke Skywalker? Yes he did. Now as someone consumed by the dark side, he really sucked at showing it at first. His idea of love was to turn his son to the dark side so they can rule the galaxy together.
Vader's redemption in Return of the Jedi was not just about saving his son; it was also a defiance of the dark side's corruption and his own past as a Sith Lord. Vader's decision to block Luke from killing Palpatine was motivated by his knowledge that it would corrupt Luke and lead him down a similar path of suffering.
At what point does Darth Vader realize Luke is his son?
Vader was hunting down the pilot who blew up the Death Star, and hired Boba Fett to find them. Boba was unable to, but he did give Vader a name: “Skywalker.” This, combined with his knowing Luke was Force-sensitive and had been trained by Obi-Wan, was what made him realize the truth.
Darth Vader only learned he had a daughter in Return of the Jedi - but there's no evidence he realized she was Leia before his death and redemption. Darth Vader may have never known Princess Leia was his daughter in Star Wars and never cultivated a relationship with her, even when he was a Force ghost.
Vader presumedly wanted to give Luke the experience of pain during his attempt to get his son to join him, thereby making him more vulnerable to the dark side's power. For Vader, pain is his greatest tool and asset, as it ultimately gives him the power to wield the dark side of the Force.

Instead of facing him in battle, Luke calls Vader's bluff, challenging him to try and catch Luke in his X-Wing, resulting in the Dark Lord of the Sith sparing Solo to give chase (partly because he believes Luke's friends make him weaker.)
During the Imperial Era, a human female nurse served the Galactic Empire on board the Death Star under the supervision of a doctor. They both served the Sith Lord Darth Vader as his personal medical caretakers. The nurse became obsessed and psychotically in love with the Dark Lord of the Sith.
Instead of being in the life suit, Vader looks like an older Anakin who never received the devastating injuries, and Padmé and Luke (who struck down Palpatine) are by his side. It's during these visions Palpatine realizes Luke - who he only knew as the Rebel who destroyed the Death Star - is Anakin's son.
Although the decision to turn to the Dark Side was Anakin's alone, the choice did not come from thin air. His natural prone to impulsivity and emotion without the support systems he needed in place made it easier for Anakin to stumble down a path of darkness.
And despite Vader's weaknesses, it's not as if Luke was unskilled, as he spent plenty of time honing his connection to the Force after Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, and was likely the most skilled lightsaber-wielder Vader had faced in a long time.
Before he could enter, however, Vader was stopped by Sabé, Eirtaé, Rabé, Saché, and Dormé, former handmaidens of Amidala, who refused to let him enter into the grave so he would not desecrate it. However, Vader would not be denied. As he entered the tomb, he became flooded with memories of Amidala.
However, the animated series and comics are now revealing that the Sith Lord showed what Padmé meant to him even after his transformation. Considering his position as a servant of Emperor Palpatine, it can be assumed that Vader eventually moved past his feelings.
Alderaan's princess knew she had been adopted by Bail and Breha Organa after the Clone Wars, but she had no idea who her parents were. That was until Luke Skywalker told her the truth - that he was the son of Darth Vader, and that she was his sister.
For years, Vader hated Obi-Wan, having been struck down by his mentor and left for dead while also believing the Jedi had worked to turn his true love Padmé against him.
Returning to Dagobah to complete his training, an ailing Yoda told Luke the terrible truth that Vader was his father, Anakin Skywalker. Rather than destroy his father, Luke sought to bring him back into the light. At 900 years old, Yoda passed away, telling Luke that there was another Skywalker.
With Anakin's mother dead, his padawan Ahsoka estranged and his faith in Obi-Wan and the rest of the Jedi council fading, Padmé was all he had left by the climax of Revenge of the Sith. By eliminating her, Palpatine would be the only one left for Anakin to turn to and therefore would have complete control over him.
The two recognize Luke's similarities to Anakin and try to prevent him from sharing his father's fate, but they let him remain Luke Skywalker instead of having him go by Luke Lars out of respect for his grandmother, Shmi Skywalker.
