El Dorado: John Wayne stars in trailer for classic 1966 film John Wayne's Rio Bravo remake, 1966's El Dorado, saw him co-starring opposite Robert Mitchum and the two became good friends.
The two actors fell out when Mitchum disagreed with Wayne's conservative views during a television interview, and they never spoke again. Mitchum tried to get in touch with Wayne in 1979 when the veteran star was dying of cancer, but did not receive any response.
He was said to have been on the set during the production of the movie, Wild Bill Hickok, in 1923. Five years later, John Wayne apparently met Wyatt Earp on a film set. They got talking and Earp related many of his hair-raising exploits to the actor known as “The Duke”.

Despite his reported affairs with other women including actresses Lucille Ball, Ava Gardner, Jean Simmons, Shirley MacLaine, and Sarah Miles, Mitchum and wife Dorothy remained together until his death in 1997.
