He was eventually taken up captive by Viggo, who surprised him when he was walking in the middle of a street. Viggo calls John and ironically states that he appreciates how he granted his son a swift death, and continues by saying that Marcus betrayed him for not fullfilling the contract, leaving him with no choice.

Is Winston John Wick's dad?
John was born Jardani Jovonovich in a Padhorje village somewhere in the Byelorussian SSR of the Soviet Union to a Ruska Roma family on September 2, 1964. He was orphaned at a young age before being taken in by an old friend of his father, Winston, who would eventually become John's mentor.
Is Marcus John Wick's Dad? Marcus, who we see in the first movie, appears to be only an old friend of John's. It's easy to wonder if there's a family connection between the two with Marcus' desire to keep John alive and aid him against Viggo Tarasov. It seems unlikely that Marcus is John Wick's father, though.

Ares is the most dangerous threat that John comes up against in John Wick Chapter 2. His battles against Cassian and others were excellent ones, but Ares came the closest to actually ending John. In the hall of mirrors sequence where they square off, Ares does manage to properly stab John and nearly defeats him.
Played by Shamier Anderson, Mr. Nobody, also known as Tracker, is a bounty hunter with his sights set on Keanu Reeves' eponymous assassin, though bides his time taking Wick down until the reward hits a certain point.
While the John Wick franchise is great at world-building, there has been nothing in the previous three movies that hinted toward Winston being John's biological father. Though the pair grew closer with each consecutive release, they were nothing more than allies in the John Wick series.
In retaliation for Iosef's death and for failing to kill John, Viggo has his goons find Marcus at his home. There, they beat him until Viggo and Perkins shoot him to death.
The nickname "Jonathan" is not John Wick's actual full name, indicating that it is likely a personal nickname Winston has given him, potentially supporting the theory that Winston is John's father.
In January 2018, it was reported that Stahelski would return to direct. According to Reeves, the film's title was taken from the famous 4th-century Roman military quote "Si vis pacem, para bellum", which means, "If you want peace, prepare for war."
