What is the 2.39 aspect ratio?
2.39:1. The 2.39:1 aspect ratio is often referred to as “CinemaScope” or “anamorphic widescreen format.” Because of the width of the frame size, this aspect ratio is really ideal for those wide cinematic shots of landscapes in films. And, again, this is the other standard aspect ratio to be used by modern filmmakers.
1.0 to 2.35 or 2.35:1 – The Widescreen Cinemascope format (commonly called the 2.35:1 aspect ratio) has become the established medium for movie theater or “Big Screen Cinema” presentations that may vary from 2.35 to 2.40 and even wider formats.
In the case of a 1920x1080 (16:9) screen, we'll split the screen once: So, using the Golden Ratio, the ratio of the the total span of the screen to the larger number is 1.62:1 (1,920:1,185). This is equal to the ratio of the larger span to the smaller span.

The 4:3 aspect ratio choice in Zack Snyder's Justice League is unusual but adds both practicality and creative charm to the film. Modern televisions cannot replicate the immersive experience of watching an IMAX film, making the aspect ratio shifting in films distracting on home video.
Not so much how it's different between the Batman Begins and The Dark Knight discs, but how it was clearly framed for that 1.43:1 IMAX frame, and that when it gets cropped in either BB/TDK discs you start to awkwardly lose some of the face.

Although the technology behind the CinemaScope lens system was made obsolete by later developments, primarily advanced by Panavision, CinemaScope's anamorphic format has continued to this day.
