The Ocellaris — which is the species of Marlin, Coral, and Nemo — can be recognized by its orange color with three white bars and black markings on the fins and you will almost always find them living in the protection of an anemone.
Marlin and Nemo are Ocellaris clownfish, a type of orange clownfish that live in sea anemones, just like in the movie. This type of clownfish is typically 3 to 4 inches long with bright orange coloring and white stripes outlined in black.
Nemo, alias Amphiprion ocellaris, belongs to the clownfish group, which includes about 30 species. Their colour pattern is characterised by a yellow, orange, brown or black colour with vertical white stripes composed of light-reflecting cells called iridophores.
Personality. Marlin is both caring and kind, but can also be nervous and jumpy. He loves Nemo dearly and would do anything to protect him. At the beginning of Finding Nemo, it is shown that Marlin is often overprotective of his Nemo, hanging over him and frequently fussing over his "lucky" fin.
Physical appearance. Dory is a round-shaped regal blue tang with yellow on her fins and tail. She has magenta eyes, black spots, and a small but brightly colored dorsal fin.
Dory suffers from severe short-term memory loss, but a lot of what she goes through can be adapted to other contexts, such as the world, or ocean, of ADHD. Dory has trouble with multi-step directions, is easily distracted, and is very impulsive.
Crush is a sea turtle who speaks in the manner of a surfer dude. He helps Marlin and Dory get to Sydney Harbour to rescue Nemo. His nicknames for Marlin and Dory are "Jellyman" and "Little Blue", respectively.
Marlin proves to be emotionally disabled from the traumatic loss of his wife, and eggs. “Like many single parents who have survived a tragedy, Marlin turns neurotically overprotective of his son (Germain, 2003)”. Marlin helps represent the struggle with chronic anxiety, and the effect it has on relationships.
Pearl is a pink flapjack octopus in Disney/Pixar's 2003 animated film, Finding Nemo and its 2016 sequel. She says she has one shorter tentacle than the rest, though this is barely noticeable. Pearl is pink like her father Ted, but unlike him, her face is positioned in the middle.
The fish's coloration is marked by dark blue above the lateral line and silver/white below, often with vertical stripes of azure blue or purple as well as dark spots on the blue dorsal fin. Marlin are hatched from eggs and begin life as tiny fish, growing rapidly each year.
The colors presented by live marlin are one of their most spectacular features. Iridescent blues that flash when they “light up” have to be observed firsthand to appreciate their brilliance. Many anglers have observed that marlin are sometimes electric blue but may be deep blue or even brownish-red on rare occasions.
But while this research shows that marlin CAN see colour – if the object they are looking at is above them in the water column (as your lures usually are) and is reasonably well-lit, it has also been proven that marlin CANNOT see ultra-violet (UV) light.

The companionship that emerges is completely genuine. Nonetheless, Dory and Marlin's relationship is a complicated and interesting one. Some view Dory as Marlin's companion and speculate that the two are actually lovers.
Nemo. Dory has a motherly relationship with Nemo. When the two met, she was relieved to find someone with kindness, and offered to help him look for his father, although she didn't remember she was looking for him too.
On coral reefs, “Dory,” the small vibrant blue fish with black stripes and a yellow tail, is known by several other names: Hippo Tang, Royal Blue Tang, Regal Tang, Palette Surgeonfish and by the scientific name Paracanthurus hepatus.
It's quite obvious that Dory has anterograde amnesia, which is the inability to form new memories. I also see many of the signs of ADHD within the character.
In "Finding Nemo", I discovered sunken treasure—a multifaceted representation of disability. The protagonist, Nemo, displays a small, or "deformed," fin that is a congenital result of a fatal attack on his mother and sibling eggs—a corporeal characteristic that the story surrounds, yet does not drown in.
